This mods will add random buffs to every enemy at the beginning of combat. The number of buffs applied is based on the enemy level. Every 4 level gets an additional buff (i.e. lvl1-4 enemies have 1 buff, lvl5-8 enemies have 2 buff, lvl9-12 enemies have 3 buff, etc.)

Whenever a combat starts, this mod will go through all objects entering combat and check if they are enemies to the player. And for each enemy, it will roll one of the buff categories and then roll a random buff from that category. The categories are weighted so it's less likely to get multiple strong buffs on the same character (but it can happen). It's also not possible to get multiple buffs from the same category for the same character.

Buff Category and Roll Chance

  • Temporary HP Buff (12.5%)
  • Movement/Utility Buff (12.5%)
  • Minor Attacking/Damage Buff (18.75%)
  • Medium Attacking/Damage Buff (12.5%)
  • Major Attacking/Damage Buff (6.25%)
  • Minor Defensive Buff (18.75%)
  • Medium Defensive Buff (12.5%)
  • Major Defensive Buff (6.25%)

Most Buffs have variable durations between 3-7 turns, and a 1 in 6 chance of being permanent (except invulnerable buffs).

I haven't tested every possible combination and fights obviously, so it's potentially possible that certain buff combos makes a fight unwinnable. It's also possible that a caster gets a STR +2 buff and can't really utilize it. Good news is if you saved before the combat, and reload the save to start the combat again, a new set of random buffs will be applied, so you can try your luck that way.

TO-DO LIST:
  • Look into giving boss enemy additional buffs
  • Create new buffs such as elemental immunity aura that requires you killing the character with this buff before you can damage nearby characters with said element, etc.
  • Look into giving specific buffs to specific unit types (e.g. remove the chance of spell casting DC buffs for melee fighter enemies, etc.)
  • Tweaking and Adjusting buff durations and category so that they feel more balanced
  • Give characters new skills/abilities to use in combat
  • Ideas welcome

Compatibility:
This mod uses Script Extender to dynamically inject the status when an character enters combat, and it shouldn't not conflict with most other mods that changes game balance. It should also work for a campaign in progress with no additional config required.

I can confirm it will work with LETHAL AI, Tactician Plus, Stronger Bosses and Companions AI.
