Introduction

BG 3 doesn't have some features available for the players in DnD 5e rules. For example, there is no distinction between passive and active perception. Also the game lacks such actions as Dodge, which gives a disadvantage on attacks against you and Ready, allowing to do your main action as a reaction off turn, based on a trigger. Supposedly, these changes were made to better fit the video game format, make combat more dynamic and proactive, improve the importance of class based defensive actions such as Patient Defense and Evasive Footwork, and also, probably, because satisfyingly coding Ready action is too complicated of a task. However, this leaves an empty niche for some kind of tactical defensive action that characters may want to occasionally use.

Description

This mod tries to fill this empty niche with a simple but elegant implementation of Ready action: it gives an advantage on perception checks and an extra reaction for one turn at the cost of your main action - thus can be used as a tool for active perception out off combat, and a mix between Dodge and Ready from 5e in combat. It doesn't upset the action balance, doesn't outshine your class features as it heavily depends on them, keeps the dynamic flow of the combat but also gives the desired opportunity to play a bit more defensively when needed.

The possible uses are various. Use two counterspells in one turn when fighting multiple magic users at once. Deflect two arrows. Uncanny dodge two attacks. Do two attacks of opportunity, or any combinations of these or any other reactions.
