About this mod

Adds a new set of dyes using the old, pre-Patch 3 colours. Also sets all vanilla dyes to be their Patch 3 selves and infinite-use. (Standalone Infinite Dyes update in Misc section!)

Shock and horror in the Sword Coast today as dyemongers and fashionistas woke to find that the contents of their bottles of dye had changed overnight! While the original bottles may be beyond saving, one intrepid merchant has stepped up to fill the void with a new range of vintage dyes, designed to perfectly emulate the lost dyes of yester-year. When we asked the merchant where these new dyes could be found, they wandered off while muttering something about a "two-Toril chest".

Or, in less fancy terms:

This mod adds new dyes which use the old dye schemes from before Patch 3. It does not add them to vendors, because frankly I have enough things on my vendors already; you'll need to either get them out of the tutorial chest on the Nautiloid or use a mod (I use this one) to summon a new copy of the chest.

Note that if you use the "Infinite Dyes" mod, your dyes never actually changed! Infinite Dyes was made using the release version of the ItemCombos table, which means it still references the old, pre-patch dye colours. This means that if you load Infinite Dyes after this mod, you will appear to have duplicate dyes in your game. This mod makes all vanilla dyes infinite-use, meaning you don't need to use both.

If you want an easy way to check your dyes, try using Jet and Pink Rose: if it turns blue and pink instead, that's the pre-3 colours.

The v2 Update and You:
AKA, Sparrow does the thing properly this time.

The main feature of v2 is that I have combed through the files, compared the old and new dye presets, and have removed several dyes which were either not actually changed in Patch 3, or which were changed so minorly as to be unnoticeable. The remaining dyes have been added as standalone presets using the old data, which means that if Larian cleans up or further edits the files then these dyes will remain untouched.

Please note that many of the dyes only had specific values changed, and not all values are visible on all gear. For example, dyeing armour with the Vintage or vanilla versions of Black and Azure or Yellow may appear identical, but dyeing underwear with them will show the difference!

UPDATING TO V2:
If you used v1 of this mod (in the short time it was up for download...) then please make sure to get rid of any of the dyes on the list below before updating!!! The easiest way to do this would be to re-summon the tutorial chest using the mod linked above, and then either throw the whole Vintage Chest in there (recommended) or the specific dyes listed below (should work), then let the chest despawn.

If you have gear dyed in the below colours, don't worry; due to how v1 is structured, the old colour will remain and you don't need to re-dye. It's just the actual dye items you need to get rid of before updating.

Dyes removed from v1 to v2:
  • Vintage Black and Summer Green
  • Vintage Baby Blue and Gold
  • Vintage Sage Green
  • Vintage Peach and Apricot
  • Vintage Indigo
  • Vintage Bloody Plum
  • Vintage Lush Burgundy
  • Vintage Harlequin Black and White
  • Vintage Sinful Red on Bone White
