College of Eloquence
Adherents of the College of Eloquence master the art of oratory. Persuasion is regarded as a high art, and a well-reasoned, well-spoken argument often proves more persuasive than facts. These bards wield a blend of logic and theatrical wordplay, winning over skeptics and detractors with logical arguments and plucking at heartstrings to appeal to the emotions of audiences.

Silver Tongue
3rd-level College of Eloquence feature

You are a master at saying the right thing at the right time. When you make a Charisma (Persuasion) or Charisma (Deception) check, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10.

Author's Notes: No mechanical changes made from the original text. It does what it says.

Unsettling Words
3rd-level College of Eloquence feature

You can spin words laced with magic that unsettle a creature and cause it to doubt itself. As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration and choose one creature you can see within 60 feet of you. Roll the Bardic Inspiration die. The creature must subtract the number rolled from the next saving throw it makes before the start of your next turn.

Author's Notes: No mechanical changes made from the original text. Important to note that the ability rolls the Bardic die before the status applies, you know exactly what number will be subtracted from the affected entity's next saving throw, allowing for more calculated, tactical gameplay.

Unfailing Inspiration
6th-level College of Eloquence feature

Your inspiring words are so persuasive that others feel driven to succeed.
  • Attack Roll & Saving Throw. When a creature adds one of your Bardic Inspiration dice to its Attack Roll or Saving Throw and the roll fails, the creature regains the Bardic Inspiration die.
  • Ability Check. When a creature adds one of your Bardic Inspiration dice to its Ability Check, regardless of the outcome, the creature rolls a d20. On a roll of 11 or higher, the creature regains the Bardic Inspiration die.

Author's Notes: Missed Attack Rolls and failed Saving Throws both recoup the Bardic Inspiration, just like the original text. However, I have not found a way to check for a successful or failed Ability Check in the game code without using Script Extender (and I don't know how to do that yet). So I did the next best thing: "RNGesus, Take the Wheel." Every Ability Check made using Unfailing Inspiration has a 50% chance to regain the Bardic Inspiration. Is it balanced or well thought-out? I don't know, and no. But it was better than leaving Ability Check hanging with no bonuses.

Universal Speech
6th-level College of Eloquence feature

As an action, you can gain the ability to make your speech intelligible to anyone, be they creature or corpse. For 1 hour, you gain the benefits of both Speak with Animals and Speak with Dead. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot to use it again.

Author's Notes: The original text is what we call "Ribbon Feature"; a flavor/roleplay-focused feature which allows the Eloquence Bard to be understood by nearby creatures regardless of the language barrier (which is frequent in a tabletop D&D game.) Since different spoken language isn't a mechanic in BG3, I turned Universal Speech into more of a "Quality of Life Feature," while retaining as much of the flavor as possible.

Infectious Inspiration
14th-level College of Eloquence feature

Eloquence Charges. You gain 5 Eloquence Charges, which you can expend to use Infectious Inspiration. You regain all expended Eloquence Charges when you finish a long rest.

Author's Notes: The original text set tied the number of times you could use Infectious Inspiration to your Charisma modifier, but I just set it to a flat number of 5, because A. Who doesn't have +5 CHA as a 14th-level Bard, and B. I do not know how to give dynamically adjusting custom action resource as a class feature.

Host of Inspiration. When you successfully inspire someone, the power of your eloquence can now spread to someone else. When a creature within 60 feet of you adds one of your Bardic Inspiration dice to its Attack Roll or Saving Throw and the roll succeeds, you gain "Host of Inspiration" until the end of your next turn. Once per turn while you have Host of Inspiration, you can expend an Eloquence Charge to give a Bardic Inspiration to a different creature (other than yourself) within 60 feet of you. This free action does not use a Bonus Action or expend any of your Bardic Inspiration uses.

Author's Notes: A little more pronounced difference is that the original gave the Bardic Inspiration as a reaction to someone succeeding. Unfortunately, BG3 does not allow the player to target anything during an Interrupt/Reaction, so in my version, the distribution of Inspiration is delayed until the Bard's next turn. But it is a free action that costs nothing except an Eloquence Charge. The fact that it's not a reaction means the change is a gain in resource (reaction can now be used for other things Counterspell/Opportunity Attack, but also a loss in tempo (you can't inspire someone immediately who would have needed the bonus before the start of your turn.) Hopefully the trade is somewhat even.
This version of Infectious Inspiration does not interact with Ability Check successes, but I feel like in-combat Ability Checks are rare enough in BG3 that it won't be missed too badly. I am hoping to give successful Ability Checks some sort of upside when Infectious Inspiration is unlocked, but I haven't thought of one yet.
v.1.02: Infectious Inspiration now also triggers off of Ability Checks if the creature loses the d20 roll on Bardic Persistence.

To-Do List
  • Change the duration of Universal Speech from 1 hour (600 rounds) to Until Long Rest.
  • When a creature rolls 10 or below on Bardic Persistence and loses Unfailing Inspiration, it will trigger Infectious Inspiration.
  • Change the tooltip text of Infectious Inspiration to reflect it being able to trigger on Ability Checks.
Known Issues
  • Subclass Icon is disappearing in some instances. May be patch 5 shenanigans.
  • Silver Tongue feature is not working properly; may be due to Reliable Talent inheritance.
