We are proud to present you Colorful Words!

This is a mod that changes the colors of all of the texts in the game. This includes character creation, journal, dialogue, even the selected dialogue arrow, inventory and so much more.
We have made a few presets - these will come in both loose file mods and as pak files so you can choose what fits you.

How to install:

Pak files:

Pak files via BG3MM (recommended) or Vortex.

Download the preset you want (choose only ONE). Extract the zip file, and put it into your appdata mods folder
.

Refresh BG3MM and you should see it in the overrides. Leave it there, and then save/export order.

Loose file versions of the presets:

You need the "Colorful Words - No Master File" file as a pak file. So same installation as above with pak file however one more step:
Download the loose preset master file.
Extract the zip and place the "Public" folder inside your \Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data.

We needed to do it this way to make it fully compatible with improved ui so you NEED the "Colorful Words - No Master File" otherwise all text will be invisible.

Selected Arrows:
Download a pak file. Only choose one of the options. Located under "Optional files"
This is not required, however be aware you will not have a selected answer Arrow if you do not download a preset for Selected Arrows.
We are in the works of making more presets for these and also make a version that does not require our mod.
Thanks to LostSoul we will be adding a lot more icons from different Gods etc.

Only choose ONE of the Colorful Words preset; not both pak and loose file version.
Selected Arrows is the only pak file that is "required" for both Colorful Words loose file version or Colorful Words pak file version.

If you are using Improved UI (and Improved Ui Assets) you need the latest version!

How to uinstall:
Our mod is safe to uninstall. Simply right click in BG3MM and click "delete mod". Check permament, and delete it. After refresh BG3MM and save/export order.

With loose file mods you just go into your data folder (\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data) and delete the "Public" folder. If you have mods that share the Public folder, just go one folder deeper and delete the folder inside Public called "Game".

Important info:
Our mod is an OVERRIDE mod which means in BG3MM do NOT put it into the load order. It belongs in the overrides and will ALWAYS be active unless removed from the appdata mods folder. How it should look is shown below:

If you want to customize the preset there is two ways: Simosas program or via the Master file in our mod

First way:
1. Download any preset. Can be the loose file or pak.

2. Get multitool, or any program that can unpack or pack a mod.

3. Get a program that can open xaml file (we used VSCode but NotePad ++ can be used as well)

4. Extract the zip file.

5. If you downloaded a pak version, unpack our mod.

6. Open the mod with the program that can open an xaml file.

7. Go into the file called "Colorful Words Master.xaml" (see below)

8. Find the hexcode for the color you want to use and replace that with the existing hexcodes.

9. Save (and repack if you want a .pak file)

10. Install same way as either the loose file version or pak file version.

11. Enjoy!

Dont change the names of the key bindings - then the mod will not work as the other files will reference something that does not exist.

I will be making a longer youtube video explaining all this in detail.

Second way:

Simosas has made a program for changing the preset while you are in the game. It will only work for loose file versions. You can find how to use that via his description on his mod page.

We have a version under optional files but make sure to read his description!

(Disclaimer: The first time you use his program, it will come up and say it is a virus. This is because none of us have what is called an app certificate. It is not a virus, it is just an exe.)

Simosas program is not a must, but an alternative and easy way to make a preset yourself.

Compatibility:
It is fully compatible with Improved ui, and all of the optional files.
It is also fully compatible with Plus UI.
It should have compatbility with Pavelk's UI mods.

Thank you Djmr and Raizan for allowing us to make it compatible with their mods.
If you find any mods that are not compatible with ours, let us know and we will reach out to the mod author!

For mod authors:
We edit these files: CCLib_k.xaml, CCLib.xaml, DialogueTemplates.xaml,
NavButtons_k.xaml, DefaultTheme.Colors.xaml, DefaultTheme_c.xaml,
DefaultTheme.xaml, DialogueShared.Styles.xaml,
NoesisTheme.Brushes.DarkBlue.xaml

You will have compatibility issues if ANY of your mods touches these. Because we have so many files that are overwritten, you are free to open our mod and make it compatible yourself as long as you comment on our mod or let us know via Discord (We are in the Official Larian Discord server as well as Tavern Wishes server). Furthermore if you edit our mod to make it compatible, you need permission first.

Do not reupload our mod anywhere else even if edited.

If you want to share presets:

You are allowed to share Presets for our mod but only upload the xaml file that people will have to replace. Do not reupload the preset with all of files but only the file named "Colorful Words Master.xaml".
