So one day I just got tired of my wizards always lugging around poles and decided that I was going to make some caster-themed weapons to break up things in the looks department. To my surprise I stumbled upon what was obviously a wand in the dagger files and thought “hey wands are exactly what we need. Are there any more of these?” And the answer was yes. Yes there were. They did some assets for several wands in the game but didn’t finish them for one reason or another, leaving modders to do the job instead. So I made some wands for my own amusement and thus I present them to you here.

These wands are meant to be something different both visually and mechanically so they are not just reskins of staffs (well, one is but that’s another story). I tried to make them both interesting but also balanced to their stage in the game, but not introduce anything too out of the ordinary to keep them feeling like they are integrated into the game as it came.

I built them on a dagger framework so there would be no issues with proficiencies for wielders. They certainly can be used to poke people as a last resort, but that’s not really how they were intended to be used. I did take away the Light flag once I realized you could double fist these suckers, which is just broken.

There are 9 wands as of this release. They are scattered on vendors throughout the game and also available as a set in a Wand Box in the tutorial chest if you aren’t doing the immersion thing.

Apprentice Wand - unlocks the firebolt cantrip and gives you a boost to Arcana. Available from Arron in the grove.

Balanced Wand - gives you a little boost to spell attack and save DC. Available from Blurg in the underdark.

Balthazar’s wand - you can cast Ray of Sickness (he loves that damn spell) once per combat encounter and you get a bit of undead fortitude. Available from Lan Tarv in Moonrise.

Rod of the Pact Keeper - Gives you a bonus to spell attack and save DC but more importantly lets you trade little slivers of your soul for the ability to cast a spell without using a spell slot. Available from Mattis in Last Light.

Arc Wand - Gives lightning charges when casting spells as well as a boost to spell attack and save DC. Also has bonus lightning damage when used in melee. Available from Danthelon in Rivington.

Wand of Binding - Allows the wielder to cast summon planar ally and to cast planar binding on the ones who aren’t your allies. Available from Mystic Carrion in the Lower City.

Chaos Rod - A wand that unlocks a cantrip that deals random elemental effects and brings its wielder luck. Available from the vendor in the Zhentarim hideout.

Wand of the Chain Master - Makes your summons resistant to non-psychic damage and adds a bonus equal to your spellcasting modifier to the damage they deal. Available from Helsik in the Lower City.

Pyromancer's Scepter - Improves the damage of your fire spells and makes you resistant to fire yourself. Also unlocks Firebolt to make sure you can benefit from it. Available from the creche quartermaster.

And the bonus secret wand…

Wandoheshkir - you were going to give up wand life for Markoheshkir anyway, why not use this wand version instead? Only available from the tutorial chest Wand Box.
