A very rough attempt to implement the Gestalt optional rule of 3.5e in BG3

What IS Gestalt Rule?

Gestalt Rule in DnD terms refers to an optional high-power variant rule that allows players to choose two classes simultaneously when they level up their characters. The details can be seen on this site, but for a brief introduction, let's take a level 5 Fighter / Wizard as an example. Unlike Multiclassing, a gestalt level 5 Fighter / Wizard is still a level 5 character, with proficiency bonus of a level 5 character (+3) instead of level 10, and HP of a level 5 Fighter. He will have access to full repertoire of a level 5 Fighter and level 5 Wizard, including martial weapon proficiency, all armour proficiency, extra attack, effective caster level of 5, able to scribe spells, arcane recovery, etc. Essentially you take all features from two classes and combine their progression into a super class. Feats and Extra Attack from these two classes don't stack with each other, so as a level 5 Fighter / Paladin you still get 1 feat and 1 Extra Attack per round.

What does this mod do?

This mod adds several feats for players to choose from, each of them corresponds to a single subclass in Baldur's Gate 3 (Except for Oathbreaker, the reason for this omission will be mentioned in the "Important Notes" part) and grants all class abilities from level 1 to 12 from this subclass as your character levels up, including saving throw proficiencies, spells, action resources (like channel divinity charges or spell slots), armours/weapons/musical instruments proficiency, metamagic, dialogue options, etc. Other than some minor points which will be mentioned in the 'Important Notes' part, these feats function exactly like a Gestalt Class. You will not get all abilities the moment you take the feat, a level 4 character taking Battle Master feat won't get Indomitable or Extra Attack, but the feat will track your character progression, and grants you these abilities at the appropriate levels. Spell slots from different spellcasting classes stack with each other, so as a Sorcerer/Wizard you will get the double amount of spell slots at every level as a normal Wizard.

As a bonus (or penalty I guess), all class abilities that scale with class levels now scale with character levels instead. I might be missing something so you are welcome to provide feedbacks in Bug or Post sections.

Do note that all spells from this mod scales with the casting ability of your base class. It is an intentional choice, to keep spells from other classes useful and avoid redundancy in spellbook UI. If you are not sure which ability it is for your class in BG3, refers to this page.

Important Notes (Read THIS before Download!)

As of 1.2.0.0, this mod dynamically grants abilities to your character, as if they have the gestalt class equal to their character level. However, due to the limitation of my modding abilities and the tools available, you should take notice of these points before downloading this mod.
  • Prepared casters have all spells granted to them directly, while spontaneous casters receive a predetermined set of spells chosen by me. This is a limitation that I have to accept to allow the spells to be upcastable. Hopefully it's large enough that you don't severely miss any spell from the class lists. The details of each class are presented in the below.
  • All features from this feat only takes effect after a long rest. And whenever you level up your characters, do take a long rest to allow this mod to grant new level features from your gestalt class to you.
  • Due to some vanilla bugs pertaining to camp allies, party members who have already taken a long rest after leveling up or taking a gestalt feat and not in active party will need a save/reload when they rejoin the player. This is the same bug in unmodded BG3 that causes camp party members to not have Common and Reaction tab after rejoining the player, until a save/reload is performed.
  • Not every subclass and not every class ability is covered by this mod. Oathbreaker prevents respec so I decide to not include it in this mod. If a character taking paladin feats breaks their oaths, they will not suffer any consequence after they 'choose to become an oathbreaker' or spend 1000g to restore their oath. They will continue as if nothing has happened. Non-bard class taking bard gestalt feat cannot play instrument in place of the somatic elements of a spell.
  • HP is not scaled with your feat-chosen class. Your HP is still determined by your main class and class levels.
  • Monk abilities will not be automatically added to the hotbar. This is a limitation I have to accept to allow non-monk using monk animations. The abilities are in the character panel, not class panel.
  • All Selectable Passive Abilities are granted instantly the moment you take feats. This includes Bestial Heart, Animal Aspect, Fighting Styles, Hunter's Prey, Defensive Tactics, Natural Explorer, Favored Enemy, Metamagic Options, Warlock Invocation.

There is also five special feats at the very bottom of the feat list called 'Surge of Inspiration', 'Blessings of Polymath', 'Glimpse of Fate', 'Flash of Omniscience' and 'Temporal Convergence'. It allows you to pick your own class abilities from a special list. The passive list from these feats also serves as a preview for all class abilities that your character is about to get from the other gestalt feat.

DIY Your Own Class

The last sections of feats offers a selection of total 20/40/60/80/100 passives from a special list providing all components of a class:

The first section is the Action Resource section. Here you can choose how many action resources you want. For example, Full Caster I, II and III will all provide you with daily spell slots equivalent to a full caster, and if you choose multiple of them, you will get multiple times of daily spell slots of that of a full caster. The same goes with all other action resources like sorcery points, channel divinity charges, etc.

The second section is the Class passive section. The passive named after subclass names (like 'College of Swords') provide you with this subclass' saving throw proficiencies, armours and weapons proficiencies, plus the tag that lets you roleplay as this class in dialogues. Other passives grants you respective class abilities at relevant levels. Do note that many of the abilities won't work if you don't choose the respective action resources! For example, knowing spells from a class means nothing if you don't have spell slots to cast them, learning lay on hands means nothing if you don't have lay on hands charges as action resource, etc.

The last section is the Stats section. Here you can choose various of boons of stats for either +1, +5 or +10, or any combination of them. It also provides you with skill passives that will allow you to grant your character any combination of skill proficiency or expertise.

Installation/Uninstallation

Just use the BG3 mod manager to install it. It can be safely uninstalled once none of your party members have feats from this mod.

Optional File

The 'Partial Scaling' version only makes spells, extra attack, wildstrike and action resource progression scales with levels. Passive features and class abilities are granted instantly at the moment when the character takes the feat. No SE is required for this version. Do not use this with the main file.

Compatibility

This mod modifies some of the passives and class abilities in vanilla files to enable character level scaling instead of class level scaling. Other mods modifying these same files will revert the scaling back to vanilla behavior.
