Description

Leviathan-Be-Gone (LBG) excises the Reapers' underwhelming origin story from ME3, while preserving the other features added by the Leviathan DLC: star systems/clusters, unrelated war assets, weapons, weapon mods, and the bonus power Dominate. For best results, install prior to Priority: Menae, before receiving the email from Hackett directing you to meet with Dr. Bryson. Installing LBG for a playthrough where Leviathan has already been started or partially completed is not recommended; I haven't tested it and don't plan to support any issues you might encounter.

With LBG installed, the three star clusters added by the Leviathan DLC (Caleston Rift, Crescent Nebula, Pylos Nebula) are accessible immediately after completing Priority: Menae, as are the star systems added to pre-existing clusters. Nine of the eleven war assets added by Leviathan are still available and found in the same locations with LBG installed; the two missing assets (Dr. Ann Bryson and Leviathan Enthrallment Team) are tied to the Leviathan questline and have therefore been omitted. To compensate for their loss, the value of the remaining nine war assets has been increased proportionally. Note that you must collect the war assets with LBG installed to receive the additional points; any of the nine war assets collected prior to LBG being added to your game will not receive the adjusted value (since war assets, once acquired, are added to your save with the value they had at the time of acquisition).

The AT-12 Raider, M-55 Argus, and Dominate are available after Priority: Menae at their usual purchase locations (Batarian Arms, Kassa Fabrication, and the bonus power console on the Normandy, respectively).

Leviathan adds five new weapon mods (Assault Rifle Omni-Blade, Pistol Cranial Trauma System, Pistol Ultralight Materials, SMG High-Velocity Barrel, SMG Recoil System); two ranks can be purchased on vendors by default, whereas ranks 3-5 are picked up over the course of the Leviathan questline. LBG makes all five ranks of each mod available at vendors: ranks 1-2 are available after Priority: Menae, rank 3 is available after Priority: Sur'Kesh, rank 4 is available after Priority: Citadel II, and rank 5 is available after Priority: Rannoch. If Sensible Stores is installed prior to installing Leviathan-Be-Gone, LBG will automatically reduce the price of ranks 3-5 by 90%, to match the cost adjustments this mod makes to ranks 1 and 2. Many thanks to Beccatoria and Padme4000 for advice on how to get this feature working.

Okay, but why tho?

I think the Reapers were far more scary and interesting when their origins and motivations were a mystery. I never even start Leviathan in my own playthroughs of ME3, and it bugs the completionist in me to miss out on the unrelated war assets, weapons, and mods provided by the DLC - hence, Leviathan-Be-Gone. I figured I would release this on Nexus in case anyone else is similarly bothered by this questline.

Installation and Removal

Import and install through ME3Tweaks Mod Manager. To uninstall, quit the game, and use ME3Tweaks Mod Manger to remove LBG:

  • With LE3 selected in the installation dropdown, click on Manage Target.
  • Click on the Delete button next to Leviathan-Be-Gone.
  • Close the window, and try to cope with the prospect of a life without LBG.

Compatibility

LBG works by providing its own, altered copy of ConditionalsDLC_Shared.cnd, as well as overwriting many other Leviathan-specific conditionals. Any mod that also overwrites this file will be incompatible with LBG without a patch, and any mod that relies upon the conditionals edited by LBG is likely to behave strangely. If you have any issues with LBG not playing nice with other mods, let me know and I'll see about making a compatibility patch.

In order to make ranks 3-5 of the Leviathan weapon mods available on vendors, LBG defines plot bools 28300-28309 and plot conditionals 2183300-2183309 to keep track of what the player has already purchased. Other mods that use the same IDs for their own custom bools/conditionals will be incompatible with LBG.
