About this mod

Reduces the weapons each character has equipped on their person to the weapons they are proficient in using, similar to how weapon loadouts in LE2 and LE3 work. Squadmate weapon loadouts are restricted. Shepard can equip any weapon but will start the game only with the weapons corresponding to their talent tree.

WARNING
If upgrading from 3.4, I recommend restoring your game and remodding from scratch to ensure all previous edits to startup files are erased. When loading a save where SWL was previously installed, open the inventory screen and close it twice. The placeholder [Unequipped] items are now dynamic so they should be removed whenever you close the inventory screen.

NOTE
Those suffering from the duplicate item glitch should remove "Unknown items" from their inventory via save editor before updating.

Overview

Ever annoyed that you can't unequip weapons in LE1? Why would your Adept be carting around an assault rifle, sniper rifle, and shotgun they never use? And why does every squadmate have every weapon? They regularly shoot walls just with the ones they're proficient in. Well now you can chuck all those useless weapons in the bin. Additionally, I went through and re-added weapons to certain cutscenes so squadmates that don't have certain weapons equipped will not hold invisible weapons in cutscenes.

This mod removes weapons that are unused by characters, restricting each character down to the following loadouts:

Squadmates are unable to equip weapons they are not proficient in. Shepard will start the game without a weapon in each slot that they are not proficient in and will be able to equip other weapons in this slot in case you want to equip more weapons or took a weapon proficiency bonus talent.

How Does It Work?
Blood, sweat, tears, and a lot of messy code. The 2.0 update adds 4 weapons labeled "Unequipped" that have no stats to the player's inventory at the start of the game. These weapons cannot be converted to omni-gel nor sold. Equipping one of these weapons will equip an invisible weapon on Shepard. Then, when the inventory is closed, all invisible weapons will be removed from the weapon wheel. Shepard can still equip any weapon in that slot and everything will revert. Unlike the first version of this mod, no saving/reloading is required.

Note: Squadmates are not allowed to unequip any of their weapons. The option will be greyed out when switching characters.

The 4.0 update is the most extensive overhaul yet. Hotkeys are now safe to use. Using the scroll wheel or the function keys will not cause a hard crash. The "Unequipped" items are now entirely dynamic. They are added to your inventory and equipped in any empty slot upon opening the inventory. They will be removed when the inventory is closed. In order to prevent any potential issues or crashes, there is now an equipment restriction. You cannot unequip a weapon that you are currently holding in combat and you must have at least one weapon equipped at any one time.

Installation:
1. Download 7z archive
2. Drag 7z onto ME3Tweaks Mod Manager
3. Click "Import mod"
4. Click "Apply mod"

Uninstallation:
1. Delete mod DLC folder from the DLC directory in your game installation
2. Click "Manage Target" and then "Modified basegame files" in ME3Tweaks Mod Manager
3. Restore all files marked with the mod name
