About this mod

This mod seeks to correct the bad scaling of destruction spells in the base game without radically changing how destruction plays. It introduces level scaling to destruction spells, adds new perks to support a more rune-based or battlemage-based playstyle, and adds 3 new abilities at level 100.

I enjoy magic in Skyrim, I like the way a lot of it plays but I wasn't happy with how un-rewarding investing in destruction is. It felt like you were basically required to invest in alchemy, stagger, and be at or near 0 cost for spells in order to make it feel satisfying. This mod seeks to correct the bad scaling of destruction spells in the base game without radically changing how destruction plays. It introduces level scaling to destruction spells, and adds 3 new abilities at level 100. 

General Destruction Changes:
  • Dual casting effectiveness changed to 2.5x normal (up from 2.2x)
  • Dual casting cost increase changed to 2x normal (down from 2.8x)

Destruction Tree Changes:
  • Removed Impact perk from tree
    This was done to lessen the cheese of endlessly staggering enemies
  • Replaced Novice/apprentice/adept/expert/master perks with 3 levels of "Destruction Mastery", granting 1%/2%/3% Destruction damage per level and 20%/40%/60% reduced cost of destruction spells respectively
  • Added perk "Focused Destruction" after Destruction Dual Casting, granting 100%/200% increased magicka regeneration rate, 10%/25% critical chance, and additional crit damage equal to 1x/1.5x destruction level (of note, these bonuses require a spell equipped in either the left or right hand, but will also apply to weapon attacks. Battlemage support!)
  • Replaced Augmented Fire/Frost/Shock with Fire/Frost/Shock Mastery, granting 25% more damage with Fire/Frost/Shock and 25% resistance to Fire/Frost/Shock
  • Rune Master changed, now also makes casting runes silent. 
  • Added perk "Minefield", granting 4 additional runes and the ability to place them up to 10x farther away.
  • Added perk "Aspect of Fire", granting 50% more damage with Fire spells, and an aura that causes enemies within 50 feet to lose 25% fire resistance and take 4 fire damage/sec (increased with destruction and fire boosts)
  • Added perk "Aspect of Frost", granting 50% more damage with Frost spells, and an aura that causes enemies within 50 feet to lose 25% frost resistance, take 3 cold damage/sec to stamina, and move 60% slower (damage increased with destruction and cold boosts)
  • Added perk "Aspect of Shock", granting 50% more damage with Shock spells, and an aura that causes enemies within 50 feet to lose 25% shock resistance, take 3 shock damage/sec to magicka, and deal 25% less melee damage

Compatibility:
My mod should be compatible with all other mods. If you're using another tree altering mod you'll need to place whichever mod tree you want lower in the list. if you want the aspect perks/auras but a different tree mod you can contact me with the mod name and I can make a patch, or you're free to make a patch for my mod to fit it with another. I just ask if you make a patch for it that you contact me so I can add it to optional files.

- corrected an error making Destruction Dual Casting not selectable
- removed the level requirement for the first perk of Destruction Mastery
You can find an optional file under the files section to change the swirling fire/frost/shock effects from the aspects into simple fire/frost/shock enchantment glows. Would definitely recommend the optional file if you play mainly in 1st person as it's much easier to see.
