Install all of the Required Mods first to avoid any setup issues later. They list as follows: TrueHUD, True Directional Movement, The Ultimate Dodge Mod, and Souls Quick Menu RE.
Getting Steam to Recognize the controller's Share button
- The driver can only be installed from Big Picture Mod. Open Steam select Big Picture Mode (button on the top right)
- Navigate to Settings->Controller Settings and install both Xbox Configuration Support and Xbox Extended Feature Support
- Exit Big Picture Mode and restart your computer (Required)
- In Skyrim, Open your Steam Overlay using SHIFT+TAB
- For Series X: Select Controller Configuration at the top and click on the Share button (middle of the controller)
- For PS Dualshock: Select Controller Configuration at the top and click on the Touchpad button
- Map this key to Keyboard HOME
Remapping D-Pad for Souls Quick Menu RE
- To avoid weird behavior, you will need to remap your Controller's D-Pad to use Keyboard Arrow Keys:
- In Skyrim, Open your Steam Overlay using SHIFT+TAB
- Select Controller Configuration at the top and click on your controller's D-Pad
- Select D-Pad UP, then Swap the Keybind to Keyboard Arrow Key UP
- Repeat Step 3 for D-Pad Down, Left, and Right
Remapping MCM Keys In-Game
- Open True Directional Movement MCM, and Bind Target Lock to (R-Stick Button)
- Open Souls Quick Menu RE MCM, and Bind the Activate Key to (Select) [aka the left button]
Controlmap Installation
- Open your Skyrim game directory and delete ControlMap_Custom.txt Don't worry, it will regenerate itself.
- Install and enable this mod using your favorite mod manager
- Start Skyrim and open Settings->Controls, and reset controls to default
Resetting the controls will allow our custom Controlmap to be used.
