About this mod

A Souls-Like Controller mapping for Gamepad users. Supports Quick Menu RE, True Directional Movement, etc...

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Excited by the new animation and movement mods but need a proper controller map? Look no further, I present to you a no-nonsense, no-compromise custom controlmap.txt to override the vanilla controls and bring Skyrim closer to that souls-like experience. Installation can be a little confusing, so I'd recommend following the tutorial written below.

This setup was designed for a Series X Controller because of the extra Share button.
(PS Dualshock (PS4) Controllers Also Supported)

Install all of the Required Mods first to avoid any setup issues later. They list as follows: TrueHUDTrue Directional Movement, The Ultimate Dodge Mod, and Souls Quick Menu RE.

Getting Steam to Recognize the controller's Share button
  • The driver can only be installed from Big Picture Mod. Open Steam select Big Picture Mode (button on the top right)
  • Navigate to Settings->Controller Settings and install both Xbox Configuration Support and Xbox Extended Feature Support
  • Exit Big Picture Mode and restart your computer (Required)

Remapping the Share button to the HOME button
  • In Skyrim, Open your Steam Overlay using SHIFT+TAB
  • For Series X: Select Controller Configuration at the top and click on the Share button (middle of the controller)
  • For PS Dualshock: Select Controller Configuration at the top and click on the Touchpad button
  • Map this key to Keyboard HOME

Remapping D-Pad for Souls Quick Menu RE
  • To avoid weird behavior, you will need to remap your Controller's D-Pad to use Keyboard Arrow Keys:
  • In Skyrim, Open your Steam Overlay using SHIFT+TAB
  • Select Controller Configuration at the top and click on your controller's D-Pad
  • Select D-Pad UP, then Swap the Keybind to Keyboard Arrow Key UP
  • Repeat Step 3 for D-Pad Down, Left, and Right

Remapping MCM Keys In-Game
  • Open True Directional Movement MCM, and Bind Target Lock to (R-Stick Button)
  • Open Souls Quick Menu RE MCM, and Bind the Activate Key to (Select) [aka the left button]

Controlmap Installation
  • Open your Skyrim game directory and delete ControlMap_Custom.txt Don't worry, it will regenerate itself.
  • Install and enable this mod using your favorite mod manager
  • Start Skyrim and open Settings->Controls, and reset controls to default
Resetting the controls will allow our custom Controlmap to be used.
