About this mod

Nerfs the damage and explosions from the new arrows in Arcane Archer. Also disables the scripted injections and reintegrates the arrows through the use of levelled lists.

Arcane Archer is a pretty cool Creation but it is a little OP. Arrows are powerful, it often feels like every other enemy has unlimited fire arrows, and the giant explosions can get annoying, so I decided to tweak it. 

There are a lot of files and separated plugins for the sake of customization and for minimizing the amount of mods needed as a master. This mod has multiple versions for Vanilla, Ammo Enchanting, and Mysticism.

This was a pretty major restructuring so I apologize if it's a little disorganized. I plan on cleaning this up a bit more when I have more free time from school. Feel free to ask any questions in the meantime!

Main File - Nerfed Stats & No Scripted Injections
This file is the "base" file for this mod. You need to install it, but it will unfinished without using any of the optional files (later), otherwise you will have no way to actually acquire these arrows.

The main changes are:

Balance Changes

  • Base damage of arrows is unchanged, but the damage caused by the enchantments/spells is nerfed (40 -> 10) (keep in mind it benefits from magic perks).
  • The force and radius of explosions has been halved.
  • Soul Stealer and Telekinesis Arrows are unaffected so far.

No Scripted Injections

  • The startup quest associated with the creation has been removed and replaced by a blank quest entry, disabling the scripted injections. When testing I noticed no ill effects caused by deleting this quest: arrows still function properly and other quests added by the Creation appear to be unaffected.

Optional File #1: Vanilla Integration
This will allow the new arrows to be found in levelled lists for vanilla users.

  • Arrows have been reintegrated into the game through the use of levelled list edits
  • Arrows can be found in the vanilla LItemArrowAll (and any equivalent "all" list for arrows I could find in vanilla), meaning they have a slight chance to show up anywhere where this list is used. In addition, they can be found more commonly in the lists for Forsworn, Hagraven, and Vampire arrow lists. Bandits have a small chance to have enchanted arrows.
  • Rather than add the arrows to the lists individually, they were added through the use of a master "Magic Arrow" list with each arrow type as part of the sublist. This should be better for balancing, as the chances of getting an enchanted arrow isn't multiplied by the number of arrows available. Rather, there is a chance to see if you will get enchanted arrows, and if yes RNG determines what kind of arrows you get. 
  • Bone arrows can't be found: sorry, these were really unbalanced and didn't make sense. Soul stealing and Telekinesis arrows can be found after you've completed their quests.

Optional File #2: Ammo Enchanting Integration
This will allow the new arrows to be found in levelled lists for Ammo Enchanting users.

  • Takes advantage of Parapet's Ammo Enchanting creating enchanted variants for all tiers of arrows (ex., Iron Arrow of Fire, Daedric Arrow of Fire) and integrates arrows following that logic
  • Enchanted Daedric Arrows can be found where you would find Daedric Arrows, etc
  • The default enchanted arrows added by the creation cannot typically be found anywhere (although I still patched them to work with ammo enchanting just in case any are hand placed by other mods) in favour of the new progression curve introduced by Ammo Enchanting
  • Crafted/Enchanted arrows will have the same nerfs to explosion radius (magnitude of damage was already well accounted for and scales well with Enchanting Skill)
  • This file is mildly under construction: soul stealer and telekinesis arrows aren't integrated yet: sorry, I'm working on it. Keep in mind they can still be crafted. Like Optional File #1 Bone Arrows can't be found and I don't plan on changing that.

Misc File: Bound Quiver Integration
This will add the spell tome for bound quiver to the adept conjuration spell levelled list. Two versions are available: one for vanilla and one for Mysticism. Recommend if you ever want to use that spell.

Misc File: Merchant Integration
Adds arrows to merchant lists. Right now I only have 1 version of this mod designed for Mysticism and Optional File #1 Vanilla Integration. More versions to come.
  • By default merchants won't have a high chance to sell them (although they can if the merchant uses the LItemArrowsAll list, will probably tweak merchant integration in the future to be better).
  • Optionally there is an added module to directly add enchanted arrows to mage merchant inventories, similar to how Mysticism edits merchant inventories to sell spells
  • This module will add enchanted arrows to mage merchant inventories alongside Mysticism's new spells

Compatibility

Like all levelled list mods it will conflict with other mods that alter the same levelled lists without a bashed patch.

Should load after Ammo Enchanting if you're using that mod.

LOOT likes to sort the Ammo Enchanting file so that its loads before the main file, but it should load after instead.

Installing

Unfortunately due to the way CC quests work this should be installed on a new save or a save that hasn't been loaded with Arcane Archer enabled yet, otherwise the scripted injection changes either won't work or cause issues.
