About this image

Concept art from the 1970s. (second Attempt)

The well know film, Alien had a difficult Birth. A young up and coming writer/director, Dan O'Bannon had already made a number of low budget films. His concept of 'Alien' would eventually be directed by Ridley Scott, though the screen play is an O'Bannon Original.

One of the many things O'Bannon wanted was a realistic look, something that looked industrial.  Among several Artists such as H.R. Giger, Chris Foss, was Ron Cobb. Ron Cobb and Foss would work on the more human elements with Giger working on the weird alien stuff.  Foss and Cobb would make dozens of paintings for the proposed Nostromo with neither of them being fully accepted. It would take a studio artist to cobble together the influences of these talents.  The result was the now famous, dirty looking, very industrial looking Nostromo. Howver I was impressed by Ron Cobb's work and I loved the 1970s aesthetics for spaceships. A bit industrial with realistic overtones but with the cool factor of sleekness and a modernistic polishing.

Here is my attempt at one of Ron Cobbs early sketches of what was as yet, an unnamed Nostromo. This one is called Leviathan. Posted with the concept art by Ron Cobb.

A repurposed Crimson Fleet Wraith, with most of the elements save some engines, fuel tanks, reactor and jump gear.
Much use was made of Derretech mod as well as Avontech for his wonderful girders and of course Matilaj's extra parts.  A unsung hero is Gilibans special, extra snaps. He's gone now from modding and really love to expand on that concept The lack of sloped or slanted parts made this build very annoying to work with and many elements don't quite fit. Another addition not quite up to snuff, is that I really wanted a VTOL lift/Propulsion engine. I just wish their animations were better.
