Ever wandered why on earth you can't place that exotic desktop speaker set down and just turn it on or even why that coffee maker you just built, just sits there like a brick, unable to do anything but act like a set dressing piece? Well, wonder no more because this mod solves that.

FEATURES

  • Listen to radio: Adds a new constructible outpost object with the ability to be remotely controlled (tune in to different radio stations, powered off/on).
  • Listen to radio (on-board your ship)*: Adds a fully functional radio right on top of the ship cargo container on the Nova Galactic Magellan C2 & C2X cockpits.
  • Make your own coffee: Adds a new constructible outpost object with the ability to brew your favorite beverage. Again, able to be remotely controlled by the hub.
  • Change your appearance: Adds an interactive mirror to change your character's appearance from from the comfort of your own outpost!
  • Manage your devices: Adds a new constructible outpost object with the ability to control all active surrounding devices remotely and as an added bonus, can tell you what the weather is like outside!

* v. 1.1.0

LATEST UPDATE - 1.2.0

  • Added two new stations for the outpost radio.
  • Added an interactive mirror for changing your character's appearance. Standalone - no power necessary.

1.1.0

  • Enabled access to the radio, on-board, through an existing in-game hardware console unit (CCU), which is located right on top of the ship cargo container access point for the Nova Galactic Magellan C2 & C2X cockpits (this update will likely conflict with mods that alter interior spaces for these cockpits).
  • If you already have one of these two (C2 & C2X) installed on your ship, buy and install the other one (i.e. if you have the C2, install the C2X etc.) in order for the cockpit to respawn completely and the radio to show up.
  • Station selection is limited for the time being - already working on adding more stations!

IN-GAME REQUIREMENTS

  • Spoiler:
    Show
Need to have completed the 3rd level of Outpost Decoration research in order to be able to construct these devices.
  • Spoiler:
    Show
Devices need to be powered (by link), otherwise they won't be able to function!
  • For the hub to recognize the devices, they need to be in the same outpost.

DEPENDENCIES

Requires plugins.txt for loading esm files & you have to have loose files loading enabled in order to work.

INSTALLATION

Install with Vortex or Mod Manager 2 like you would do with any other mod. Should work fine mid-playthrough. (Probably) safe to remove mid-playthrough as well but keep a save before installing the mod handy, just in case.

Also, make sure you have enabled support for loose files - just add the following lines to your StarfieldCustom.ini (Documents/My Games/Starfield). If you don't have one already there, just make a txt and rename it as such.

UPDATING TO LATEST VERSION

  • The proper way: Load a save prior to installing the mod and start over.
  • The true way: Just update the mod to the latest version and if something stopped working, try removing it and adding it again (for it to respawn). If it still doesn't work, come here and scream at me.

KNOWN ISSUES

  • Menu icons: Not really much can be done about that, since for some reason Beth decided to hardcode outpost menu icons into the game. The only realistic alternative would be to piggyback onto an existing outpost menu mod but even then, some meddling with files and folders would be required, so I decided to keep it as hassle-free as possible.
  • Sound occlusion: The sound originates from the speakers and the occlusion (how and where the sound is cut off) is handled entirely by the engine. I might go with a different route in a future update but that would require some more effort - in any case, stay tuned!
  • SmartHub support: Hub object needs to be supported across its length (i.e. cannot extend beyond the underlying object's edge) - currently looking for a way around this.

CREDITS

  • The wizard of course for SF1Edit - this mod wouldn't be possible at this stage without him and that software.
  • Jonathan (you rule man) and the rest of the crew from xEdit Discord server.
  • Beth for another great game.

FOOTNOTES

All in all, I've been working on this for some time now & seeing as this would be my first mod, I would only ask for you guys to be considerate. Kindly report any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section & let me know what you think/ suggestions you may have etc. in the comments. Thank you & enjoy!

P.S.: If you're gonna use parts of this mod's code in your own without my permission, at least have the kind decency to include it as a reference (not referring to translations - you guys rule). Not cool fellas. Thank you.
