About this mod

Rank 4 Marksmanship perk currently causes every other crit with a scope to knock an enemy to the floor, AND no-scopes do double damage. With this mod, only sniper rifles (Magsniper, Lawgiver, Hard Target) will benefit.

Without this patch, you can basically stagger-lock any enemy with a scoped weapon used in close range.

πŸ’’Balanced Marksmanship Rank 4: 
Before:
Critical hits using a non-automatic ranged weapon without a scope do double damage and those with scopes knock down enemies on the next shot.
After:
No-scope critical hits with a sniper rifle deal double damage. A scoped sniper shot after a critical hit knocks down enemies.

Marksmanship Rank 4: 
By default, this perk gives ANY scoped weapons double damage when hipfiring, and knocks enemies down every other crit.

Now, only sniper rifles benefit from this hip fire bonus damage and crit knockdown. Ranks 1-3 unchanged.

I can release a version that rewords "No-scope" to "hipfire" if anyone finds it unimmersive or comes up with a better description. The original was very clunky.

Doesn't that original version sound OP now that you think about it? It makes any gun with a scope a knockdown machine. Sound OP? It is. It makes it so that, with the other perks that increase crit chance, every enemy can pretty much be perma-staggered. Just non-stop. It made it so hard for me to test enemy damage when they were all just laying on the floor.

It also just straight up looks silly.

If anyone has noticed any other similarly "broken" abilities, please let me know.

Why Nerf the Player? It's a single player game! 

a)
I found the enemies getting knocked down constantly silly looking and not immersive.

b) I found perma-staggered enemies boring to fight.

c-z) As I tweaked the Royal NPC records to try to make enemies more fun and interesting, I had to nerf a few perks, armor abilities, etc, as they rendered it impossible for NPCs to actually damage me.

Tweaks like this one helped me make good leveled lists without overly buffing the enemies when the simpler change was to nerf the player.

I will post these tweaks as standalone files while I slowly work my way toward a Starfield Balance Patch (anyone want to help, contribute? I'd love to work together with others to balance out the game a bit. Find me on the Starfield Modding discord).

I have nerfed, for my game so far, Solar Flare (OP against high HP enemies), the armor perk causing stagger, the armor perk causing enemy weapon drop-- a few other things.

I accidentally disabled this tweak once. I didn't notice at first, but as I was playing, I was so annoyed to see enemies falling down non-stop. So I decided it was worth sharing on its own.

Load after anything else that affects perks, but if you're using a perk overhaul, they probably change this perk anyway.

Whatever file tweaks the "Marksmanship" Perk last will win, but this tweak does not impact any other perks.

Only includes the one edited record: Marksmanship 1-3 Vanilla and the Rank 4 tweak.
