About this mod

A quality of life mod that allows you to craft rare, epic, and legendary weapon and armour mods at workbenches. Undertake new research to unlock craftable vanilla weapon and armour legendary effects. This one is for the purists, so the base effect restrictions on spacesuits, helmets, and backpacks have been applied.

Introduction

This mod is for players who have found the best-looking legendary armour or gun but it has legendary effects that don't suit your playstyle. It's for players who are happy with the original game balance, but would like the convenience of changing legendary effects without save-scumming and in a lore-friendly way.

Core Features
Weapon Mods
New research to unlock new recipes at the Weapon Workbench:
Research Flowchart - Weapons
  • Rare Weapon Mods - unlocks crafting of rare mods for Rare, Epic, or Legendary Weapons. Requires Weapon Engineering 2 and Special Projects 2.
  • Epic Weapon Mods - unlocks crafting of epic mods for Epic or Legendary Weapons. Requires Weapon Engineering 3 and Special Projects 3.
  • Legendary Weapon Mods - unlocks crafting of legendary mods for Legendary Weapons. Requires Weapon Engineering 4 and Special Projects 4.

Weapon rarity cannot be upgraded, so you can only craft these mods for rare or higher rarity weapons that you find.

Troubleshooting
  • If you encounter a "locked" symbol on the crafting menu. You may find some helmets and boost packs that you are unable to change the Epic or Legendary mods for, and you will see a lock symbol in the crafting menu. Please help me fix this by letting me know the type and full name of the armour, and the name of all the rare/epic/legendary effects on the armour.

Installation
Vortex
Simply download using Vortex, activate, and deploy as per the Vortex readme.
Ensure that Plugins.txt Enabler is installed.

Manual (not recommended)
Download and unzip into the Starfield \Data folder.
Write the names of the downloaded esm files in the plugins.txt file e.g.
*DenizensCraftingBase.esm
*DenizensLegendaryCraftingArmour.esm
*DenizensLegendaryCraftingWeapons.esm

Please ignore/delete the esm.2 file in v1.2 - it was mistakenly included in the zip and will be removed in the next update.

Compatibility
The weapon and armour crafting have been separated out into different esm files to try to imrove compatibility with other mods.

The weapon crafting should be compatible with any mod that changes the vanilla weapon rare, epic, and legendary effects - but it will not automatically add new effects. Conflicts may arise with other mods that add recipes to the Weapon Workbench or that change the legendary attach point keywords.

The armour crafting will be incompatible with any other mod that changes the vanilla rare, epic, and legendary armour effects because the Object Modifications were changed in order to apply the effect type restrictions.
Conflicts may arise with other mods that add recipes to the Spacesuit Workbench or that change the legendary attach point keywords.

It is known that
Legendary Effect Overhaul (LEO) is incompatible with this mod. A compatibility patch may resolve conflicts but there will be recipe groups from each of our mods that both add legendary effects to items.

Planned Features
  • In the vanilla game there are 8 rare effects that can be applied to Helmets, Spacesuits, and Backpacks. Currently all of these are unlocked by the Rare Spacesuit Mods research, but I want to gate the mods for each type of armour behind the appropriate research.
  • Optional weapon and armour quality crafting. This isn't strictly vanilla, so I'd want to tie the maximum craftable quality to the rarity of an item in or to allow RNG to continue to play a role in the player power scaling. Each weapon has different scaling factors with quality so this feature will take a lot longer to implement. Starfield Extended - Craftable Quality offers similar functionality.
  • Options to increase or decrease the resource requirements for crafting and/or research.
  • Possible optional mode to remove the additional research and to unlock using special project and weapon/sapcesuit engineering.
  • Localisation - please let me know which languages you would like first
  • Compatibility patch for Legendary Module Recycler
