About this mod

This is an RTFP-powered mod which seeks to rename non-moddable items in the game to make it more immersive as well as to break up monotony and confusion.

"I have CDO, which is a lot like OCD, except the letters are in the CORRECT F#&KING ORDER!" - Chaophim

This mod is aimed mainly at collectors and decorators like myself who maaaaay have noticed that there are items in game which do not 'stack' because they are different variants but ALL bear the same name.

Three different types of hammers, for example...  A brick hammer, a mallet, and a claw hammer.  ALL named 'Hammer' in your inventory.

Four different My Friend Wilbys - each with a different color, but all with the same name.

Various bowls that bear the same name but come in different sizes.  Stylish fans that are the same in name...except one is animated and the other is not.  And others like this that are indistinguishable in the inventory preview, but are different once placed.

And let's not forget the fact that there are TWENTY-ONE different coffee mugs in the game, all different, and all just named 'Coffee Mug'.  (There are more mugs than that but at least those have different vanilla names.)

All of this is a personal nightmare to me when I'm trying to save certain things from the yard sale table or place objects in a home or outpost.

This mod seeks to correct that.

Installation:

First, you will need to have both the Starfield Script Extender and the Real Time Form Patcher mod installed.  This mod is useless without it.

Next, you just install my mod.

The beauty of RTFP is that it doesn't really care much about load order and the only conflicts that it will have with other mods is if another RTFP mod changes the same records.

Compatibility:

This mod was built and tested with StarUI installed and works great, so vanilla or other UI mods should like it just fine as well.  All CDO replaces is the "Full Name" of items, so stats, prices, etc., all remain intact from either vanilla settings or mods that you are running that change them.

Current Status:

It currently covers most Junk items (still working on quest/unique tagging), Resources, Apparel (two variants to choose from), Aid (two variants to choose from), and Books (still a WIP).

Because of how the Suits, Packs, Helmets, and Guns change their names dynamically, odds are good that CDO will never touch these categories.

Roadmap:

Finish Books

Permissions:

This mod is a LOT of hard work on my part and I don't like plagiarism, so I do not give permission for it to be merged into distributed AIOs or re-uploaded to this or other sites UNLESS....

Translations are both allowed and encouraged, as long as you credit me and link back to the original, please.

Gratitude:

I'd like to thank TommInfinite for RTFP and a lot of face-palming that probably happened helping me muddle through the process and for graciously adding the Full Name feature after I asked about it.

I'd like the thank VenpiTheGamer for helping TommInfinite in fielding some of my questions, as well as for the fabulous Galactic Junk Recycler mod which has seen a lot of use during the collecting and renaming process.

I'd also like to thank EliminsterAU for SF1Edit (aka xEdit), as that has been a real help in making this (and most of my other mods) happen.

Donations:

"Cancer" comes before "CDO" in English dictionaries, and so I ask that it keep that standing when it comes to your financial priorities.  While gratuities WOULD be nice, I would prefer that any such funds be given to support cancer research instead, given that I have had friends and family members alike who are either currently battling this disease or who lost their fight against it far too soon.  Thank you!

Contact:

I can check the discussions and bugs portions of this page regularly and try to respond to everyone.
You CAN send me a message through Nexus, but I don't check them regularly.
Best way to find me is on the Starfield Modding Discord as "Gutter Rat".
