A battle overhaul mod that accentuate certain aspects of the game to be more impactful and rewarding by reworking the following systems.

  • Morale system
  • Weight Classes
  • Fatigue system
  • Fire system

Morale:
Perhaps the most significant change in this mod, is that once a Unit routs, it is shattered. It cannot regroup and return to the fight. This is a controversial change but I believe it is for the best, especially if you dislike micromanagement and the fact that routed enemy troops can come back and encircle your encirclement, and the battlefield turns into a chaotic mess with no order.
To balance this out, units stay MUCH longer in the "Wavering" state, so you have plenty of time to pull them back from danger and allow them to recover, this will encourage your to keep reserves and be careful with where you send your units, it transforms the gameplay in a major way.

Moreover, Attacking units in the rear is now much more impactful, even if you use a lowly Militia to encircle enemies, you will very likely cause a rout. Due to the increased speed of light infantry, there are more opportunities for flanking and encirclement that doesn't always involve your cavalry.

Weight Classes:
The difference between the three weight classes has been increased, each weight class has its distinct roles and Heavier is not always better:

Infantry:

Light infantry is much faster, now fulfilling their role as a mobile force that can flank enemies and fill in gaps with great speed, but on the other hand their Mass has been reduced, cavalry will plow through non-polearm Light Infantry with little to no resistance.

Heavy infantry are much slower, but their mass has been significantly increased, Cavalry cannot make a dent in their thick formations, and their sheer mass allows them to push lighter units away, especially useful at breaking through chokepoints or holding key spots in your formations.

Medium Infantry remain a good middle ground, they can reliably hold your lines with slightly increased mass and are a bit more responsive with a slight speed buff, but otherwise they remain very close to the Vanilla configuration.

Cavalry:

Heavy Cavalry's Mass has been significantly increased, they can be a truly destructive force when unleashed on non-polearm Medium and Light infantry, they will break through their formations with ease.
Light Cavalry's speed has been increased, they can get in and get out with finesse, and are ideal for flanking or chasing down routing troops.
Medium Cavalry gets a slight Mass and Speed bonus and remain a good middle ground.

Charge Speed for all Infantry and Cavalry weight classes has been increased. With this change along with increased Mass, Shock units are more powerful.

Fatigue:
Now using the same Records Mode configuration in Romance Mode, however the morale penalty for being slightly tired has been reduced, while the morale penalty for being Very Tired and Exhausted has been significantly increased, so keeping an eye on your units stamina can be key to winning a battle, units can be safely pulled away from combat without risking routing due to the fact that the "Wavering" state lasts much longer. So cycling fresh units is now a viable tactic.

Fire System:
The system was overhauled, it is MUCH more dangerous and impactful, not only does fire catch on very easily, but things stay burning for a lot longer and spread much faster, the morale penalty of being near a fire has been significantly increased, so is the damage done to anyone near it. On the other hand, the morale penalty from Flaming Arrows has been reduced, so the main use for it is to set things on fire instead of lowering enemy morale. While this might be truly devastating for AI, this can be dangerous for the player as well, since even shrubberies can ignite easily and ruin your army.

Feedback is welcome.
