About this mod

This is a work in progress mod geared just to my preferences. Others may like the changes too so I am trying to make them available should anyone be interested. More changes are coming but it is fully functional as is. The Space Marine and Tau DLC's are required to use this version but it is easily adjusted.

Notes:

Sometimes I like to mix and match units in a game via the debug tool. For example, playing as Space Marines with a contingent of Guard survivors. Unfortunately not all abilities will work on other forces. The Guards are setup so the leader abilities often don't work on other allied units. This seems to be true with the Tau's Markerlight ability also. So I have commented out some sections to enable these to work more cooperatively.

I am thinking about making the Markerlight last more than one attack or perhaps just increase the bonus to make the single use more worthwhile. Perhaps there should be a variant Markerlight ability depending on the source. I would think a drone designed for marking would be more powerful. For now I have extended the range from 2 to 3 on the Markerlight drone and Cadre Fireblade only. It makes sense to me that these units should be able to deploy from a safer range behind the frontline units considering their supporting role.

I want to emphasize mobility more in the game. So I changed the jump cool down to from 3 to 2 for Assault Marines & berserkers. Still a delay but definitely more useful. Needs more evaluation though as this may be too overbalanced with Hammer of Wrath however I am inclined to think it is within reason. On units where jumping is a natural part of their mobility, such as the Vespid, I have changed it from 3 to 1. Only a minor delay for a species with natural ability.

I think the sniper ability on the Cadre Fireblade to be a little too weak. I get that this represents one figure and so shouldn't be that powerful to begin with. So I have tried to keep my instinct to muck around to a minimum. I created a new weapon based of the default one called a Pulse Support Rifle which is basically a Pulse LMG. I enabled the assault trait and added the blast trait to give some area effect without directly increasing the rate of fire or damage. I am pretty happy with this although there are certainly a number of ways it could be done. Please note the weapon will display a ? instead of a diagram on the unit detail. I haven't figured out how to correct this yet.

At first I did not like how throwing a grenade ends a unit's turn. I thought it was fine when used offensively as you have committed time and resources to assault with the grenades. What I didn't like though was you couldn't toss grenades and retreat from a superior opponent. I came to the conclusion that the scale - with most weapons limited to range 2 or less - would makes this correct except with some high speed or elite units. So I have modified only some units to be able to move after a grenade throw. The Assault Marines, for example, should be able to throw and launch away quickly.

Ideally it should only apply when you haven't moved yet. So you could throw then move because you haven't committed yourself to the fight. Due to the scale, after spending time to maneuver into range and assault with grenades I don't think you should then be able to engage in a regular firefight as well. It should be one or the other. I have not yet been able to do this without crashing the game. I tried setting requiredActionPoints but apparently I don't know how it is supposed to work. For now I just choose not allow myself the extra move in that instance.

That covers it all so far.  Feedback, ideas, etc. are most definitely welcome.
