MAKE JORRVASKR INTO A TRULY GREAT MEAD HALL

DESCRIPTION

Jorrvaskr is the greatest mead hall in Skyrim, but you can't buy mead there. It's also home to the greatest warriors for hire, yet you can't hire anyone. Jorrvaskr itself looks and feels empty and lifeless. If you don't join the Companions, Jorrvaskr is just that place you pass by on your way to the Skyforge. There's really no reason for you to step foot inside Jorrvaskr unless it's for a Thieves Guild job. In contrast, the College of Winterhold is the best place to shop for spells and soul gems. The Ragged Flagon offers food and drinks and has a makeup artist there. Jorrvaskr, however, offers no services outside of trainers. Jorrvaskr Tavern And Companions NPCs is a highly compatible and modular mod that will improve your Skyrim experience whether or not you join the Companions. It can be use alone or to make other Jorrvaskr mods better. This mod does for the Companions what Immersive College NPCs does for the College of Winterhold.

This mod will turn Jorrvaskr into the great guild hall it was meant to be. There are up to 32 new unique NPCs. The mod was designed to give more NPC diversity to Jorrvaskr while maintaining the majority as Nords. Sixteen (Immersive Companions Of Northern Skies or ICONS) are great heroic warriors that will appear as you explore Skyrim and follow you after you become the Harbinger. Four are hirelings that can be hire right away for a price. Four are bards that will sing, play instruments, and sell goods. Two are servers. Six are regular customers to Jorrvaskr. Jorrvaskr is now a true mead hall where you can go to buy food and drinks, listen to music and songs, trade your goods, get quests from the Missions boards, or perform (with Become a Bard). All four bard voices can be heard in Jorrvaskr. Servers will dance and serve food and drinks. Hirelings will patrol Jorrvaskr and the Skyforge. ICONS will travel twice and week and visit other towns, cities, or guilds. The main hall of Jorrvaskr is now nicely decorated. Jorrvaskr is an upper class establishment and will serve a greater selection of food and beverages than the The Bannered Mare. Up to eight random NPCs will visit Jorrvaskr, the Skyforge, and Whiterun. All AI packages were carefully thought out and quest events (Battle for Whiterun, Jorrvaskr Attacked!, funeral) were taken into consideration. NPCs won't overcrowd Jorrvaskr or other places. Bards won't be inappropriately singing or playing during the attack on Jorrvaskr. More NPCs will show up for the funeral. NPCs will sleep, sandbox outside, visit the Skyforge, visit the stores, and visit Dragonsreach. This mod has automatic support for Open Cities and SR Exterior Cities. Simply pass through the main gates or fast travel using the Whiterun map marker with Open Cities or SR Exterior Cities active and the NPCs will use the appropriate packages. Hirelings have slightly less repetitive greetings and good-byes than vanilla hirelings. All dialogue are vanilla voiced. Hirelings were carefully tweaked to be fair and balance, but are still good enough to be worthy of being from the Companions. ICONS are much tougher without being OP. They are true warriors that can hold their own in a battle.

The This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern version is the deluxe version of Jorrvaskr Tavern and has all the bells and whistles. It requires This Is Jorrvaskr or JK's Jorrvaskr with the JKs Jorrvaskr - This Is Jorrvaskr patch. JorrvaskrTavernLight is a standalone light version of the mod. It is compatible with This Is Jorrvaskr, JK's Jorrvaskr, HS Whiterun - Jorrvaskr, Spaghetti's Faction Halls - Jorrvaskr, DMT's Jorrvaskr Extreme Renovation, and many other Jorrvaskr mods. It does not have visitors or hirelings. JorrvaskrHirelings is a standalone mod with only the two hirelings. It is the most compatible and can be use with just about any mod. It can also be use with JorrvaskrTavernLight. This won't give you the equivalent of The This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern, but it's the next best thing. JorrvaskHirelingsTwins can be use to add two more hireling to This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern or JorrvaskrHirelings. This Is Jorrvaskr - Bards or JorrvaskrTavernLight-Bards will add two bards that will sing, play instruments, and sell goods. JorrvaskrTavernRegulars will add six customers that will visit the mead hall. Four of them will also sell goods. This Is Jorrvaskr - ICONS will add 16 more Companions to Jorrvaskr. All plugins are esl flagged and can be added or removed if you use the proper method and some common sense.

You should also look over the optional plugins. They contain Quality Of Life and Bugfix patches that will also improve other mods and are not just solely for Jorrvaskr Tavern And Companions NPCs. These patches were created because no other mods address the issues addressed by these patches at the time of creation. While fixing other mods may be outside the scope of this mod, these patches are provided to give users of Jorrvaskr Tavern And Companions NPCs the best gaming experience.

Note that This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern may require the toggling off of some objects in order for compatibility just like with This Is Jorrvaskr. Read the INSTALLATION AND USAGE and COMPATIBILITY sections below for instructions.

ICONS (IMMERSIVE COMPANIONS OF NORTHERN SKIES)

Ariya
Ariya is a dual wielding Redguard spellsword. It is said that one of her ancestors had slain a dragon on the island of Stros M'Kai. She's eager to slay a dragon of her own. Ariya will appear once you have completed the quest In My Time Of Need. She travels to and from Rorikstead on Mondays and Wednesdays and will spend Tuesdays in Rorikstead if the Whiterun shield on the travel map in the training room is present. Activating the travel map will toggle the shield at the Whiterun location on the map between a Whiterun shield and a Jorrvaskr shield. Due to her speed, she is deadly against mages. She has a harder time against tough melee fighters with strong attacks.

Beryl and Hurd
Beryl and Hurd are my tributes to Grumpy. For those that don't know who Grumpy was, Grumpy was a Morrowind modder. He can be considered the grandfather of follower mods. Just about every Morrowind follower mod is based in on his pioneering work. His work is also seen in Oblivion and Skyrim follower mods and even in vanilla Skyrim followers. It is fitting that a tribute to Grumpy comes in the form of a Companions mod. The Beryl and Hurd here are meant to be references to the originals in names and likeness only. They are not meant to be the originals nor descendants of the originals. Beryl and Hurd are Nord knights. Beryl will appear once you walked pass or fast travelled to the Whiterun stables. She travels to and from Riverwood on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will spend Wednesdays in Riverwood if the Whiterun shield on the travel map in the training room is present. Hurd will appear once you walked pass the southern entrance to Morthal. He travels to and from Morthal on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will spend Wednesdays in Morthal if the Whiterun shield on the travel map in the training room is present.

Blad

Blad is a Redguard ranger and one of the best all-around pure fighters. He is good with swords as well as bows or crossbows. He is also a member of the Dawnguard and will appear once you have walked to the front doors of Fort Dawnguard. He travel to and from Fort Dawnguard on Mondays and Thursdays and will spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Fort Dawnguard if the Whiterun shield is present.

Chan-Lur

Chan-Lur is a "friendly" Argonian swordsman and a member of the Blades. He is one of the deadliest swordsman among the ICONS. He will appear once you have been to the courtyard of Skyhaven Temple and and have recruited the first Blade member. He travels on Mondays and Thursdays and will spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Skyhaven Temple.

Kar'jaisu
Kar'jaisu is a Khajiit warrior that is learning the way of The Voice at High Hrothgar. He will appear once you have been to the courtyard of High Hrothgar. He travels on Tuesdays and Fridays and spends Wednesdays and Thursdays at High Hrothgar. He knows the Unrelenting Force and Ice Form shouts.

Miekka
Miekka is a Breton spellsword and is also a member of the College Of Winterhold. She will appear once you have passed through the gates of the college. She travels on Mondays and Thursdays and will spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the college and Winterhold. She casts fire spells and can conjure a flaming familiar.

Oks gro-Das
Oks is an axe wielding Orsimer warrior from Markarth. He will appear once you have walked by or fast travelled to the Markarth stables. He travels on Mondays and Thursdays and will spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Markarth. He isn't good at using bows so he casts spells when at a distance.

Rosett
Rosett is Bosmer druid from Falkreath. She will appear once you've passed by the western entrance of Falkreath or fast travelled to Falkreath. She travels on Tuesdays and Fridays and spends Wednesdays and Thursdays in Falkreath. She is the best archer among the ICONS and will summon Spriggans during battle.

Skydda

Skydda is an Imperial spellsword and is also a Vigilant of Stendarr. She will appear once you walked by or fast travelled to the entrance of the Hall of the Vigilant. She travels on Tuesdays and Fridays and spends Wednesdays and Thursdays in Dawnstar. She casts frost spells and can conjure a frost familiar during battle. If you need to talk to a Vigilant of Stendarr to complete a radiant mission, you can talk to her or one of the visiting Vigilant of Stendarr.

Sten
Sten is a two-handed Nord swordsman from Whiterun. He will appear once you have completed the quest Take Up Arms. He patrols around Whiterun Wednesdays and Fridays and will go hunting in the hills by Whitewatch Tower on Thursdays. He is not affected by the travel map in the training room. He is one of the four ICONS that can dual wield.

Styrkur
Styrkur is an Altmer spellsword and a member of the Bards College. He loves listening to music and songs,  but doesn't play or sing himself. He will appear once you have walked by the Solitude carriage or travel to Solitude using carriages. He travels on Mondays and Thursdays and will spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Bards College and Solitude. He casts lightning spells which makes him a good fighter against mages. He was very concern about being accepted into the Companions, but fortunately the Companions are open minded and are not racist.

Tikari
Tikari is a Dunmer archer from Solstheim. She will appear once you have entered Raven Rock from the dock. She travels to and from Windhelm on Tuesdays and Fridays and spends Wednesdays and Thursdays in Windhelm. Enemies really hate fighting her due to her fighting style.

Umah
Umah is a dual wielding Orsimer warrior from Largashbur. She will appear once you have completed the quest The Cursed Tribe. She travels on Tuesdays and Fridays and spends Wednesdays and Thursdays at Largashbur. She is a poor archer so she casts frost spells when at a distance.

Veitsi
Veitsi is the most mysterious among the ICONS. She is an Altmer but she looks like a Snow Elf. She was an orphan and doesn't know who her parents were. Most likely, she is both Altmer and Snow Elf. She will appear once you have passed by the entrance to the Inner Sanctum in the Forgotten Vale. She travels on Mondays and Thursdays and will spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Riften. She may be the most powerful spellsword among the ICONS.

Zyn
Zyn is a member of the Blades and a swordsman of both Nord and Akaviri heritage. It is rumoured that he is a descendant of the Nerevarine or a descendant of a Nord from Solstheim that left with the Nerevarine to go to Akavir. He will appear once you've enter Raven Rock from the dock and have recruited the third Blade member. He travels on Mondays and Thursdays and will spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Skyhaven Temple. He is not affected by the travel map in the training room. He is the best swordsman among the ICONS and is skilled in one-handed, two-handed, and dual wielding. Zyn carries a two-handed katana that resembles the Ebony Blade. It is said to have been made by a blacksmith who had once worked on the actual Ebony Blade.

TAVERN NPCS AND HIRELINGS

Brynja, Panssari
Brynja is half Dunmer and half Nord. She was born and raised in Morrowind. Being of mixed race, she was often bullied and discriminated against. While this fuel her fighting spirit, it also gave her a misguided sense value. She developed into a great fighter and became a warrior for hire. When her parents passed away, she move to Solstheim to escape the bigotry. There wasn't much work in Solstheim, prompting her to make her way to Skyrim and the Companions. Kodlak recognized her potential as a fighter, but also realized by the sadness in her voice that her pursuit of gold was just an attempt to filled a need. This need was a need to belong and to be accepted. This was something that no amount of gold can solve. He accepted her into the Companions, hoping that one day she might realize this truth on her own.

Raissa
Raissa is a Redguard bard that can be recruited using the Harbinger's Decision Board. She is a jack-of-all-trades who sings, plays instrument, hunts, and sells goods. She buys and sell all goods, but will specialize in potions. She sleeps in the morning, visits in the afternoon, and sell her merchandise in the main hall at night.

Skjold, Sverd
Skjold is a cheerful and mild mannered Nord with a strong and steady desire for more gold. While his words maybe friendly, his sword isn't. He is also a bit overconfident. Kodlak believed that these flaws are just due to the ignorance of youth and hope that one day he will outgrow them. He and Brynja take turn patrolling Jorrvaskr and the Skyforge. He patrols the night shift. Both he and Brynja heavily promote their services.

Ucellus
Ucellus is an Imperial bard that can be recruited using the Harbinger's Decision Board. He is also a jack-of-all-trades who sings, plays instrument, hunts, and sells goods. He will buy and sell all types of goods. He sleeps at night, visits in the afternoon, and sell his merchandise in the main hall in the mornings and evenings.

Vidda
Vidda is a Nord bard. She was a great beauty and a great warrior in her younger days. She loves a good song as much as a good fight as much as a good mead. When she hung up her sword, she became the bard for Jorrvaskr. What better way to retire than to do two of the three things one loves best each day: singing and drinking? She spent so much time at the bar that she also became good at bartending and shares that responsibility with Yohannes, the head bartender. If Vignar becomes Jarl and you are the Harbinger, Vidda and Wendrid will take over the main hall bedroom if you reassign it.

Wendrid
Wendrid is a Bosmer working as a server for the Companions. Her story is similar to many others.  She found herself in a very bad situation and would have died if not for the rescue from a Companion. During days like these, there is a lot of hatred directed at Elves. Wendrid found herself surrounded by a mob aiming to kill her just for being Elven. It was Vidda that showed up in her time of need. She has followed Vidda ever since.

Yohannes
Like Kodlak and Vignar, Yohannes' adventuring days have long passed. Now he does what all true Nords loved to do: sit by the fire and drink mead. What better way to do that than to become the bartender for the greatest mead hall in all of Skyrim? Over the years, he has taught Vidda how to tend the bar and she has taught him how to sing and play instruments. Now they both share those two duties. If you are the Harbinger and reassign Skjor's room, Yohannes will take over the room.

Zienne
Zienne is a bright eye Nord with hopes of being someone great. She went to the Bard's College with hopes of becoming a world famous bard. Unfortunately, she couldn't sing or play an instrument. Next, she tried becoming a world famous mage at the College Of Winterhold. That dream ended when she couldn't pass then entrance exam. She then came to Jorrvaskr to become a warrior princess. After a lot of training with different weapons and many cuts and bruises, she managed to shoot someone in the knee with a arrow. That would have been good if she had shot a bandit or a deer in the knee, but the one she shot was...herself. Even still, the Companions decided to let her stay. While she may not have been good at many things, the one thing she was good at, she was very good at. She could brew a great mead. In addition to brewing mead, she is in charge of the stockroom and purchasing supplies for Jorrvaskr. She can been seen working down in the cavern in the mornings.

INSTALLATION AND USAGE

General Procedure For Installing All Mods
If you are adding any mod midplaythrough, make a "clean save" before enabling any plugin. Install the mod by adding the contents of the archive to the Data directory manually or with a mod manager. Sort the load order according to what is stated with the individual mod, add-on, or patch. Do NOT blindly rely on LOOT to sort your load order. LOOT does not always sort mods that aren't in its database correctly. Enable the mod and play. You may have to enter the Living Quarters to jump start the AI packages. All plugins are esl flagged and will not take up any of the 254 esm/esp slots. They can be added or removed at anytime. Click the spoiler tag below for more detailed instructions for each plugin.

This Is Jorrvaskr - ICONS
ICONS (Immersive Companions Of Northern Skies) requires This Is Jorrvaskr v3.0 or later and should load after it. It adds 16 new Companions to Jorrvaskr. ICONS won't appear in the game right away. They will show up as you visit certain places or completed certain quests. For example, the ICONS that is also a member of the College Of Winterhold will show up after you passed through the gates of the college. One of the ICONS that is also a Blade will show up only after you have been to the yard of Skyhaven Temple and have recruited the first member of the Blades. If you are adding this midplaythrough and have already been to these places, you will have to visit them again. ICONS are design to be much tougher than vanilla followers. They are even tougher than the hirelings. They are meant to be the heroes of Skyrim such as yourself and not just sidekicks. ICONS have custom combat styles which will give them better combat AI. They are designed to be very strong defensively and just good enough offensively. In a one on one vanilla fight against a high level boss, ICONS should be able fight the boss to a stalemate for a very long time. This will allow the player to join in and break the stalemate. To balance ICONS for combat or enemy overhauls, you just need to give them stronger weapons and armor. ICONS won't follow you right away. They will follow you only after you've been to Tomb of Ysgramor. If you've already completed Glory of the Dead, just go back to where the blue flame is, go close to it, and come back out. ICONS are very immersive. They will train, visit shops, travel twice a week, and visit other towns, cities, or guilds. If you want them to remain at Jorrvaskr, activate the travel map in the training room in the cavern so that the Whiterun shield is replaced by a Jorrvaskr shield. They will now not spend time at those other place, but they will still travel twice a week. Two of the ICONS will not be affected by the travel map. While the tavern NPCs are meant to fill the beds in the main sleeping quarter, ICONS are meant to fill the beds in the secondary or guest sleeping quarters. ICONS sleep in the afternoon so they won't interfere with NPCs that sleep at night. They are scheduled such that they won't overcrowd any cells. You will not see more than two ICONS in any shop. The only time they will all come together is from 10 PM to 2 AM in the main hall on weekends. ICONS have their own unique outfits and shields. This will make them easier to mod and avoids the necessity to mod their inventories. Read the Background section for information on each NPC. ICONS was inspired by the mod Companions and Followers which is recommended for use with ICONS. ICONS and Companions and Followers will add more heroes and adventurers travelling Skyrim without overcrowding the roads.

This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern
This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern requires This Is Jorrvaskr v3.0 or later. It should load after This Is Jorrvaskr and any mod that removes the keyword LocTypeInn from WhiterunJorrvaskrLocation. It should load before other hireling mods and any Jorrvaskr mod if it doesn't edit WhiterunJorrvaskrLocation. While the mod This Is Jorrvaskr has many of the options off by default to provide the best compatibility, This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern has them on by default to provide the best looking tavern. Any option that conflicts or that you don't want can be toggle off. It also places shields and weapons on some of the displays. If you already have something in these displays, the new items will end up on the floor. If you didn't put anything there and there are weapons or shields on the floor after entering the main hall, exit the cell and re-enter. If they are still there, you can pick them up and place them yourself or disable them using the Cavern Decisions Board. You may also have to go down to the cavern to toggle off a few other options using the Cavern Decisions Board. Visiting NPCs can be toggle off by activating the right side of the sign in book and setting it to read "Bar Is Closed To Public". The sparring done by the visitors in version 3.0 can be toggle using the lower half of the page. In version 3.0, the tavern NPCs have more immersive work AI packages and the hirelings have new training packages.

If you are using JKs Jorrvaskr - This Is Jorrvaskr patch, you will have to toggle seven different activators after entering the main hall. The banners clipping with the shields on the column can be toggle by activating the left "Make Change" toggle at the base of the northern column. Then go down to the cavern and toggle off Main Hall Bar Accessories, Main Hall Bar Decor, Main Hall Bow Decor, Main Hall Drapes (Red), Main Hall Weapons Rack(East), and Main Hall Weapons Rack(West). Refer to the pictures on page four of the Images tab for help. Another option is to use the This Is Jorrvaskr - KASA-JK patch. It will toggle off options that are incompatible with JK's Jorrvaskr when using JKs Jorrvaskr - This Is Jorrvaskr patch. This will only work if you haven't activate those toggles yet. Toggles that have been activated will still require you to toggle them off. You should also read the NOTES section and save yourself a great deal of fustration.

This Is Jorrvaskr - Bards (Bards will sing, play instruments, and sell goods)
Anyone that is familiar with classic RPG gaming knows that bards are not just people that sing and play instruments. Bards are the jack-of-all-trades in RPG gaming. They are good at everything but not great at any particular thing. This add-on will add two bards to Jorrvaskr. Both the bards are peddlers, hunters, and treasure hunters. They will have the same goods that hunters sell in addition to general goods. In order to remain fair and balance, the goods that they sell are the same goods that the Khajiit caravans sell but without the sugar. Basically, they each have half of what the Khajiits sell. They will only sell general goods when in the main hall, but will sell hunter goods at anytime. As they are bards, you can asked them to sing or play an instrument just like the Hearthfire bards. Usually, you should only ask them to perform while they are in the main hall. If you ask anywhere else, they will go into the main hall before performing. If you need to buy or sell something and the other shops are closed, you can request a song or a tune from them to get them to go into the main hall. Only one of the bards will perform at a time, and they will only sing songs available for their voicetype. The bards are disabled by default. This keeps the game fair and balance. They can be enable by using the Harbinger's Decisions Board (number two on the board) after you become the Harbinger. The dialogue to dismiss the bards will not dismiss them. Think of it as giving them an early heads up. The bards are not set up as followers. This is intentional. There are already more than plenty of great followers mods available. The bards are more hired help and are not regular Companions. They also have their business to run. The mod has been thoughtfully design as not to eliminate the need to go visit the other stores. While doing so would make shopping more convenient, it would also make the game less fun in the long run. The bards have good AI packages and will spend time indoors and outdoors. As of version 1.24, they no longer have the hunter bow or arrows. This was done to keep their backs free of weapons when using equipment display mods. They will now cast range spells during dragon attacks. Versions 1.25 and later have built in support for Open Cities. Version 3.0 gives them training packages. They will train outside at 5 PM if it's not raining. They will train at 5 PM in the new training room if it's raining or if the training is set to "Open". They will also train in the training room in the mornings. The bards are protected, but can still die if you aren't careful. This mod requires This Is Jorrvaskr v3.0 or later. It should load after This Is Jorrvaskr, but before KASA. It is a light plugin (ESPFE/esl flagged) and will not take up any of the 254 esm/esp slots. It can be added or removed at anytime.

JorrvaskHirelingsTwins
JorrvaskHirelingsTwins adds two addtional hirelings, Panssari and Sverd, to Jorrvaskr. This is a proof of concept mod. It is a cheap but not sloppy way of doubling the number of hirelings with very little extra work. It is the JorrvaskrHirelings mod with slight head and names changes to the NPCs. This essentially creates identical twins of Brynja and Skjold. While it's possible for Panssari and Sverd to not be identical twins of the others, being identical twins made the most logical sense because they have the same voice and dialogue, and they are located at the same place. The vanilla hireling system only has one female voice and changing Sverd voice would require new dialogue and new scripts. This is a standalone mod and can be use together with any of the of the other plugins. However, be aware that if you are not using a Jorrvaskr overhaul that adds extra beds, you may exceed the capacity of the sleeping quarter. It should load before other hireling mods and any Jorrvaskr mod.

JorrvaskrTavernRegulars

Six named NPCs that are making their way in the world today and giving it everything they've got. They go to Jorrvaskr to take a break from all their worries because it sure helps a lot. These NPCs will visit Jorrvaskr during the less busy hours so they will not overcrowd Jorrvaskr. They visit Jorrvaskr from 6 AM to 8 AM Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. They will also visit Jorrvaskr from 2 PM to 6 PM everyday. The NPCs from this mod are meant to complement the random NPCs in This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern or give visitors to Jorrvaskr Tavern Light which doesn't include any visitors. They are the night shift from the Temple of Kynareth and Dragonsreach and will increase immersion for those places as well. Cyanne and Darr-la are members of the Temple of Kynareth. They sleep in the temple from 6 PM to 12 AM and handle business at night when the other two members sleep. Ramie and Koach are guards from Dragonsreach. Koach use to be a great captain of the guards in his younger days. After retiring as captain, he stayed on as a night watchman at Dragonsreach along with Ramie. Ramie was an ace archer in the Whiterun guards until he took an arrow to the elbow. He and Koach will sleep in the basement of Dragonsreach from 6 PM to 12 AM and guard Dragonsreach at night. Stiff is a courier for Dragonsreach and can be seen running around all over the city. Storm is a businessman. His company transports goods to and from the local shops. He has a wife back home named Weara, but none of the other regulars have ever seen her. He and Stiff will hang out in Dragonsreach at night. Starting with version 1.1, four of the regulars are now also merchants. Cyanne and Darr-la will sell temple related necklaces and potions inside the Temple of Kynareth. Stiff will sell paper, feathers, and charcoal. Koach will help Farengar sell his stuff at night from 12 AM to 6 AM. These vendors are designed to make your night life a bit easier. This is a standalone mod and does not require any other mod. It is a light plugin (ESPFE/esl flagged) and will not take up any of the 254 esm/esp slots. It can be added or removed at anytime.

JorrvaskrTavern - 3DNPC
This mod gives a few of the 3DNPC NPCs from Whiterun additional AI packages to visit Jorrvaskr. Eldar, Eldawyn, and Iria will visit Jorrvaskr a few times a week. You need to talk to them first before they will visit Jorrvaskr. The other 3DNPC NPCs in Whiterun will not visit Jorrvaskr for various reasons. Also, Ange the Song-Bearer will visit Jorrvaskr on Sundays and during the Warriors Festival. It just seems weird for a bard that sings about the wolves of Jorrvaskr to never visit Jorrvaskr. AI packages are added by quest and will not cause any compatibility issues with NPC overhauls. Requires and should load after 3DNPC. This is a light plugin (ESPFE/esl flagged) and will not take up any of the 254 esm/esp slots. It can be added or removed at anytime.

JorrvaskrTavernLight
This is a standalone light version of This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern. It does not require any other mod and is compatible with most Jorrvaskr mods, including This Is Jorrvaskr, JK's Jorrvaskr, HS Whiterun - Jorrvaskr, Spaghetti's Faction Halls - Jorrvaskr, DMT's Jorrvaskr Extreme Renovation, Houses Shops and Inns, and many others. It does not have visitors or hirelings and can be use with either or both JorrvaskrHirelings and JorrvaskHirelingsTwins. Do not use this with This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern. It must load after any mod that removes the keyword LocTypeInn from WhiterunJorrvaskrLocation, but should load before any Jorrvaskr mod if it doesn't edit WhiterunJorrvaskrLocation.

JorrvaskrHirelings
This is a standalone mod with just the two hirelings. It should load before other hireling mods and any Jorrvaskr mod. It can be use with JorrvaskrTavernLight and JorrvaskHirelingsTwins. It can be use alone or with any Jorrvaskr mod. Do not use it with This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern. You can, but it's redundant.

Hirelings - USSEP Patch
This universal patch forwards some hireling related dialogue changes from the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch. It can be use with and should load after most mods that contains dialogue for hirelings. This isn't truly necessary, but it improves the dialogue. It won't work with and do not use this with hireling mods that reuse and edit the vanilla dialogues directly. For example, do not use this with Standalone Hireling E'lara. If you load it after that mod, you will break that mod. If you load it before that mod, it will get overwritten. This patch can be use with This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern, JorrvaskHirelings, or JorrvaskHirelingsTwins. It is not needed for JorrvaskrTavernLight. Note that these dialogue changes only affect vanilla hirelings and not the ones from this mod.

JorrvaskrTavernLight-Bards
(Bards will sing, play instruments, and sell goods)
This add-on adds the two merchant bards from This Is Jorrvaskr - Bards to JorrvaskrTavernLight. The bards will show up after the Glory of the Dead quest. If you have already completed that quest, go back to where the blue fire is in Ysgramor's Tomb to enable the bards. The bards are not Hearthfire bards like in This Is Jorrvaskr - Bards and can not be asked to play instrumentals. This mod requires JorrvaskrTavernLight and must load after it. It is a light plugin (ESPFE/esl flagged) and will not take up any of the 254 esm/esp slots. It can be added or removed at anytime.

BardsSpotTweak
This standalone patch tweaks the BardSongsBardSpot AI packages so that bards will travel to and play at their intended spots. Use this to overwrite changes made by other mods. Mods such as More Tavern Idles change these packages and cause bards to play at odd spots. This tweak changes them so that bards will play at the correct spot. Load this after any mod that changes to BardSongsBardSpot packages. It only requires Skyrim and can be use with any mod. It is a light plugin (ESPFE/esl flagged) and will not take up any of the 254 esm/esp slots. It can be added or removed at anytime.

JorrvaskrTavern - SOS (Sounds Of Skyrim)
Now you can have Jorrvaskr sounding like a true mead hall. This standalone mod changes the music of Jorrvaskr's main hall to tavern music, adds tavern sound markers from SOS to Jorrvaskr, and moves the three pots to a better location. It can be use with any Jorrvaskr mod. It requires only  Sounds Of Skyrim and should load after it. If you are using SOS and any Jorrvaskr mod, you should also be using this mod. This mod can also be use to fix the three floating pots issue between SOS and some Jorrvaskr mods. It can be use with the SoundsofSkyrimComplete - Trigger Patch, but only one fix is needed for Jorrvaskr. The SoundsofSkyrimComplete - Trigger Patch will fix pot issues for all locations. Version 1.1 will silence the joyful tavern music during the attack on Jorrvaskr. This will only work the first time you enter the main hall during the attack. If you exit and re-enter the main hall, the music will play. If you are using Skyrim AE, the silence may not work all the time.

JorrvaskrTavern - WI ((World Interactions)
This standalone patch moves the WhiterunJorrvaskrCenterMarker marker so that tavern World Interactions events do not occur in front of the bard's play spot. Encounter mods can add events to taverns. These events often appear at the center marker. This patch will move the events to a more open spot and away from the performing bard. For example, the tavern brawls from Immersive World Encounters will now occur in the open floor near the main hall bedroom. While it can be used with any Jorrvaskr mod, it is only  useful for This Is Jorrvaskr - Bards, This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern, JorrvaskrTavernLight, and JorrvaskrTavernLight-Bards. It should load before any Jorrvaskr mod. Version 1.1 renames plugin for accuracy and consistency.

This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern-Missive

This add-on allows you to access all Missive boards from the Jorrvaskr Missions boards. This will allow you to examine all the boards at once and pick multiple jobs that require you to travel to the same place. Use some common sense when choosing jobs from Missive boards not in Whiterun. Don't accept a job that you can't possible complete on time. Open each missive board by activating its city on the map. You must visit the actual Missives boards for the missives to show up and to update. It requires This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern 1.6 or later, Missives 2.03, and Missives - Solstheim Patch SE v2.03. It should load after all three mods. This add-on is not compatible with JK's Jorrvaskr.

This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern-Missive-2n1
This patch moves the Solheim map and Missive board to the Skyrim board for better compatibility. This patch will allow This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern-Missive to work with JK's Jorrvaskr when using the JKs Jorrvaskr - This Is Jorrvaskr patch. Load it after This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern-Missive. Requires This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern, Missives, Missives - Solstheim, and This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern-Missive.

RECOMMENDED LOAD OARDER EXAMPLE:

This is a suggested load order example to show where the add-ons and patches should load in respect to the main mods. Your actual load order should not look like this as some of these plugins are not compatible with each other. Add-ons and patches that are not on this list only need to load after the mods that they are dependent on and can load before or after the main mods. Read the INSTALLATION AND USAGE and COMPATIBILITY sections for help with the load order of those plugins.

COMPATIBILITY

Jorrvaskr Tavern And Companions NPCs is design for maximum compatibility to avoid unnecessary patching. In most cases if you follow the directions and have the correct load order, you do not need a patch. This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern is compatible with just about any mod that is compatible with This Is Jorrvaskr. Note that some features must be enabled or disabled using the This Is Jorrvaskr Decisions Boards or other activators to maintain compatibility with some mods. Check the This Is Jorrvaskr mod page for more details. JorrvaskrHirelings and JorrvaskrTavernLight are a bit more compatible by design. The following mods are compatible unless otherwise stated. Mods without load order specification mean that load order does not matter with these mods. Mods specifying a preference base load order mean that the mods can load before or after, but there will be visual or other differences. All mods on this list have been confirmed to be compatible to a certain extent. Note that while these mods are compatible with this mod, they may not be compatible with each other and will require a patch. Some of the mods and instructions below are only applicable for This Is Jorrvaskr and This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern. Mods that are not on this list may still be compatible. They just have not been tested. This list and instructions will be updated as needed. Click the spoiler tag below for list.

Click the spoiler tag and read what's below if you're having issues or just want to be smarter. Most of your questions related to the mod are probably already answered here.

When a lot of NPCs are in the same cell, you may notice many NPCs grouping together. This is normal behaviour. You can think of it as an immersive side effect. What's happening is that they are waiting for their AI packages to kick in. They will disperse after some time. Mods such as NPC AI Process Position Fix and Immersive Citizens will help with this. You should also avoid using the wait and sleep menu while in the main hall if you don't want NPCs grouping together.

You should not get the black face bug with this mod. The black face bug is caused by a mismatch between the NPCs head data in the esp file and the facegen files. This mismatch can happen if the facegen files are corrupt or missing, or if two or more mods edit the same NPC and the load order is incorrect. If the load order of mods A and B is AB, then the install order must also be AB and not BA. This is only true if both mods have BSA archives or if both mods have loose files. Loose files will overwrite files in the BSA archive. Installing Skyrim in in a UAC protected directory such as c:\Program Files can also cause the bug. UAC protected directories can cause installation issues or file access issues.

JK's Jorrvaskr can be use with This Is Jorrvaskr if you use JKs Jorrvaskr - This Is Jorrvaskr patch from JK's Guild HQ Interiors Patch Collection. The goal of This Is Jorrvaskr is to make Jorrvaskr a great player home while maintaining the vanilla aesthetics. It also adds visual enhancements, but you have to turn some options on and put up weapons and shields manually. It wasn't design to have a heavily modded look. Using JK's Jorrvaskr with This Is Jorrvaskr will give you that heavily modded look with the player home functionality of This Is Jorrvaskr. The number one issue mod users have with JK's Jorrvaskr is the missing door. This issue is not cause by a bug in the mod and never was. It is cause by not having the correct load order, not having the correct patches, or adding the mod after starting a new game. The JK's Jorrvaskr - Persistent Reference Fix will the fix the door issue if you are adding the mod midplaythrough, but it must be added at the same time that JK's Jorrvaskr is added. Everyone using JK's Jorrvaskr should use this patch because it is very difficult to have the correct load order and patches from the beginning. Using More Informative Console will help with finding the mod that is in the incorrect load order or that needs a patch. If you have the door issue, open the console and type TCL. Close the console and go to the door. Open the console and click on the door. More Informative Console will show which plugin last edited the door. If this plugin isn't JK's Jorrvaskr of a patch for JK's Jorrvaskr, then that plugin is in the wrong load order or needs a patch if it needs to load after JK's Jorrvaskr. To fix the door once you have the correct load order and necessary patches, do the following. First, go into the Underforge or a nearby interior cell that is not in Jorrvaskr and make a save. This is known as a clean saving (this save is not actually clean). Next, uncheck JK's Jorrvaskr and any dependant patches. Start the game, load that last save, and make another save (this save is the clean one). Next, enable JK's Jorrvaskr and all patches. Ensure that the JK's Jorrvaskr - Persistent Reference Fix is installed. Start the game and load the clean save. The door should now be in the correct location. There may be stuff on the floor, but they will be cleaned up when the cell resets. The JK's Jorrvaskr - Persistent Reference Fix is no longer needed and can now be uninstalled.

If you use JKs Jorrvaskr - This Is Jorrvaskr patch and notice that NPCs are moving strangely in the hallway between the twins' rooms, it's because of some bad triangles in the NavMesh in the JKs Jorrvaskr - This Is Jorrvaskr patch.esp plugin. If you know how to use the creation kit, you can fix it with the following instructions:

  • Open the creation kit and set JKs Jorrvaskr - This Is Jorrvaskr patch.esp as the active file
  • Double click WhiterunJorrvaskrBasement in the Cell View Window
  • Go into NavMesh Mode by pressing Ctrl+E
  • Click the top of the Render Window to make it active
  • Press Ctrl+F to bring up the Select Triangle menu
  • Click Check NavMesh
  • Click No in Found Warnings
  • Click Next Warnings twice until Triangle Index 30
  • Look for the vertex (small red square) in the center of the Render Window just north (above) of the long carpet
  • Press and hold the left mouse button on it and drag it left a little
  • Click Next Warnings until Triangle Index 227
  • Look for the top left vertex of the green triangle
  • Press and hold the left mouse button on it and drag it south a little
  • Finalize the NavMesh by clicking the red check mark on the NavMesh menu bar
  • Close the NavMesh menu bar and save
  • Exit the creation kit
  • Use SSEdit's Quick Auto Clean on JKs Jorrvaskr - This Is Jorrvaskr patch.esp

Akkery is a respelling of the Icelandic word "akkeri" which means anchor.

Blad is the the Norwegian word for blade.

Brynja is the the Icelandic word for amour.

Chan-Lur is a reference to the friend Chandler Bing.

Kar'jaisu is a reference to the Finnish word "Karjaisu" which means roar.

Miekka is the Finnish word for sword.

Oks is the the Norwegian word for axe.

Panssari is the the Finnish word for amour.

Rosett is the Swedish word for bow.

Skjold is the the Icelandic word for shield.

Skydda is the Swedish word for protect.

Sten is the word for stone in Icelandic, Norwegian, and Swedish.

Styrkur is the the Icelandic word for strength.

Sverd is the the Norwegian word for shield.

Tikari is the the Finnish word for dagger.

Veitsi is the the Finnish word for knife.

The NPCs from Jorrvaskr Tavern Regulars are references the characters from the TV show Cheers.

Brynja and Panssari will dual wield if you remove their shields.

Sten and Zyn will dual wield if you remove their two-handed swords and give them two one-handed weapons instead.

If the bards don't show up at the funeral, it's because the bard AI takes precedence over the regular AI packages.

Yohannes and Vidda will not appear during the attack. They are probably chasing after the Silver Hands that fled.

Unlike vanilla hirelings, you will have to pay each time you want to rehire the ones from this mod. This keeps things fair and balanced.

If Vignar becomes Jarl, the beds in the main hall become free beds. Mods such as Immersive Citizens change the ownership of these beds. If you are using such a mod and you want to have Vidda and Wendrid take over the bedroom, use the "Make Change" activators there to toggle on an invisible bed for them to use. A pair of shoes will appear under the bed when the invisible beds are enabled.

If you don't like seeing NPCs eating and drinking with helmets on, use Immersive Indoor Attire and Etiquette to remove helmets from NPCs that are sitting down. This isn't a perfect solution, but no one has created a mod to remove helmets while NPCs are eating or drinking yet.

This Is Jorrvaskr - Bards can make Jorrvaskr an even better tavern. The bards from that mod are Hearthfire home bards, while the other bards are regular inn bards. Hearthfire home bards have more dialogue options and can also be asked to play any of the three instruments. Originally, This Is Jorrvaskr - Bards was suppose to have four bards. One for each of the four bard voices. However, one of the voices wasn't suitable as a Hearthfire home bard. This lead to two of the NPCs being removed from that mod and the creation of Jorrvaskr Tavern And Companions NPCs with those two NPCs. If the bards aren't performing at the center of the bottom of the steps, you likely are using More Tavern Idles or another mod that changes the BardSongsBardSpot AI packages. You can use BardsSpotTweak from the This Is Jorrvaskr mod page to fix this. You only need BardsSpotTweak if the bards are not playing at the correct spot and you want them to. While all the NPCs from this mod have various AI packages (sleep, travel, sandbox, etc), the bard AI can overwrite them at times and throw them off their daily schedule. This is normal behaviour, and the variations in the schedule will help improve immersion.

The visiting NPCs from This Is Jorrvaskr - Tavern are created from various NPC level lists. Mods that edit these level lists will further enhance and diversify these NPCs. If the spawn NPCs are from an enemy race, they won't be shown any mercy. This will create a bit of immersive unpredictability.

This mod has been tested with MO2 and Vortex and works without issue. If you are having issues, here are some things you can check. First check that Steam and Skyrim are not installed in the "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" directories. If you are not very computer-literate, you shouldn't install any apps in those directories. Check that vortex is allowed to change the  filetime on the vanilla BSA files. Filetimes on vanilla BSA files can cause loose files in mods to not load. Check that the archive isn't corrupt. Use 7-Zip to test the archive. If it's bad, it needs to be downloaded again. If it's good, try reinstalling it. Check that the load order is correct. Read the INSTALLATION AND USAGE section of the Description page for load order guidance. Do not solely rely on automatic sorting. Check that you are only using one version of the same mod.

When asking troubleshooting help or reporting bugs, explain what the issue is, the steps you used to install the mod, and what you have tried to fix it. Post a picture if you aren't good at describing issues with words. If needed, post your plugin modlist in its correct mod order and your archives modlist in its correct mod order using spoiler tags. These information will help to identify compatibility issues, bugs, and incorrect load or installation orders. It will also help to identify or eliminate user error as the problem. Sometimes, including the mod, patch, or game versions can help to identify incompatible or mismatched versions. Understand that when it comes to troubleshooting mods, no one will be able to help you if you don't provide the necessary information.
